Terrible twos = My way or the highway.

Adults know there are other options.

And since the mod's "swat on the behind to make your post red" seems to get my butt slapped more often than the real culprits . . .

Heh, I'm going to have to think about that odd turn of thought.

I went to your profile to see if you were just one of those teenagers slamming other teenagers (not that we were talking about teenagers or anything please don't hurt me), and I saw that you were a Pangalactic Porcupine. I just wanted to congratulate you on your courage. It takes real guts for someone something to come out as pangalactic, especially in such an unforgiving place as the internet.

It had also been months since pre-orders opened and people were starting to get miffed that they did not just up and release the beta already. Then you have the conspriacy that the beta was being held to premire there then finally the issue of Why they could not just release the i49 demo (reason was it was made for the set-up they had thier and was also as broke as the nightlies). There were a lot of factors to how horrible things started to get the closer to 2014 we got.

I have seen people claim people like you get away with alot while people who post "Starbound, you mean the game that is never coming out." get a warning/ban for their post.

Yeah but anyone that knows Fiben knows that he's never serious. He's just a friendly little sprite person monkey user that posts stuff to lighten up the situation. He's like that one friend you keep around for the sole purpose of comic relief

True, but I never quite understood why people were acting so out of sorts over the whole ordeal. Disappointed I can understand if they thought the beta would be released at that point, but a lot of their points sounded downright desperate. It makes more sense in my mind if the event was their "last chance" to play the game while they still had free time to do it.

I mean, people were still complaining, but I felt it never again reached the 'intensity' of that first week or so after i49.

Since when is a Deckard replicant in a position to judge others based on a forced designation. I'm on track to hit 666 forum points. Break out the Voight-Kampff then.

I'm sure I have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm no white knight, I AM THE RED KNIGHT!

Seriously though, these complaints about the game are getting tissue paper thin lately.

This is getting off-topic, I will PM you my reply. We need to get back to talking about steam reviews.

I will PM you a reply too.

You really don't have to PM me anything.

Off topic derailment is the point.

There is no valuable ore to be found when you dig this deep into the core.

Only odd things that suddenly erupt into flames.

I like this game, it has potential< I also said that before i purchased the beta and not a lot has changed for stable since. I think they need more people on their team as the current plan may not be working as well as they had originally forecasted. I am easily appeased though, so now i wait for more hoods. :casper:

Listen man, look into ANY IT development project and you will find that the dev teams end up going back and making changes to previously designed systems. The simple reason for this is that as development progresses, unseen/unexpected events occur that require design fixes. More often than not, on long term development projects, as the team gets further into the process, they realize that the previous work could be accomplished in a better/more efficient way OR that additional reworking is required to successfully implement previously planned features.

I haven't worked on game development, but I've acted as an SME adviser for dev teams working of federal systems. Hundreds of millions of dollars and some of the best coders money can buy cannot stop a dev team from running into issues like feature creep or necessary reworking of systems.

One thing I will say however, it would be interesting to hear how CF handles the dev workflow and project management. Is it on a waterfall basis, agile, do they have an experience project manager? Knowing the answers to these questions would give us better insight to the efficiency of their development process.

Getting back on topic, perhaps knowing that there is a formal project management team in place could placate some of the more critical parties (especially ones that seem to be knowledgeable about software development)[DOUBLEPOST=1408080819][/DOUBLEPOST]
I believe that simply looking at any Steam forum and community review page can incite a sense of cosmic horror and existential dread. lose 1d8 SAN points.

    - 4? It could have been worse.

This damn game's problem is that too many of the devs have facial hair and Stalin's beard proved that a communist can't make a good sandbox and that's why this game is going to fail because of Stalin so what's the point when you know they got you with their thing and that's what I have to say about your moustache game.

I think most of them are ticked because they can't find reasons to complain other than "NO REAL UPDATE!" They know that's essentially a waste of time and go to all of the smaller schtuff to make it seem like a huge conspiracy.

Stuff like the move, missed release date, the pirate game, and of course the length between updates. They're really just impatient but most of the guys posting are otherwise reasonable. They're just tired of waiting and might have gotten themselves to believe in their own hate-filled speeches.

I would say propaganda but only a few of them are angry enough to do that.

    Also, lol.

There's a simple reason for a lot of bad reviews.
People feel that Starbound is a mediocre game that got overhyped and take a look at chucklefishs trackrecord with Starbound, because Chucklefish has no other track record. So people with a critical mind will advice on taking a step back and not invest into a game that might end up in development hell if CF isn't able to stop stumbling from problem to problem.

Sure most people don't go the length to explain their reasoning, but hey, that's typical "social media" for you guys.

The game has bad reviews because updates to the stable build are slow. That's all there is to it.

Early Access only paints a target on your forehead unless you can pump out game-changing updates every week or so. Compare Starbound's user reviews to those of Planetary Annihilation, then compare the frequency of updates and the amount of positive community-developer interaction going on.

It's fairly clear-cut, there. Starbound hasn't been updated in a while, the developers haven't been engaging fans for feedback, and folks are getting bored with waiting so they're criticizing it.
Let me tell you, there is nothing worse than a bored critic.

  16. After discussing it with some of the other moderators -- we feel it's best if we close this thread now. The influx of reports is getting out of hand and we've been trying to be very lenient with such a contentious thread in the hopes that everyone can come together and discuss their points and opinions constructively, calmly, and with respect for others.

This has not been the case.

There's been a lot of snide insulting in this thread -- and it's not cool. It definitely constitutes as "being a jerk". Additionally, I'm not happy that Steam is represented here by a majority as some sort of dark pit of stupid -- as that's not true. It's true that much more of the negativity is harbored by the Steam section of the Starbound community, and it doesn't help that it's the go-to place for trolls after we're done with them here -- but I feel the issue is simply that Steam users in particular don't have immediate access to information as readily as we do here on the forums. Lastly, a few moderators have continuously been very persistent in trying to keep this thread on track and open -- and were, in a lot of ways, simply ignored or disrespected. Totally not cool.So this thread is now closed. If you have any questions or issues about the closure, I encourage you to send me a PM. If you have any issues with me, I encourage you to contact Ordona or Molly
