Sadly for the most part this is not what this is actually about.

It's easy for you because you took the time to learn everything. And just because something is easy doesn't mean it's not fun, or not difficult for someone else.

Anyway, krylo put into words something I had been trying to get across; I want some sort of relaxed pace when I start off, though it may not be true for everyone else. Point is, the starting point should serve as breathing space.

GSGregory - Because times change, man. If you can't get with them, then maybe you're the problem.

Which seems to be the problem with much of these hardcore gamer comments: They all want the game to be exactly how they want it to be, accessibility or gateway be damned.

Not really any reasonable input here.

    Same here.

Both of you give a quite narrowminded reply, not even that, it could be taken as insulting. *shakes head* i mean... really?
Just in case you want to flip at me now, because you asume i am bad at this game, die all the time and am whining here.
No, im good with the damage. I die sometimes but i do not have a hard time with the mobs.
In short: thanks im fine i have no reason to cry.

    To the topic:
Just looking at the Numbers of damage that the mobs deal, casting birs 30-80, mobs 15-40 and humanoid mobs with guns 5 .... ehr. (irony) Yes... makes total sense!(/irony)
Anways i think that the dealt damage balance has to be looked at again, that is quite obvious. The birds are a bit hard here and there, wich is kind of a bit too much i guess.
I did not encounter any mini bosses so far though.

This game is extremely easy to learn, when i first played i died ALOT, but then i played a second time when the new combat system was out
and dang, i didn't die for a long time, why? cuz i knew what to do, games that are hard to start with are not bad games, just cause you want
a super easy start the first time you ever play the game don't mean it should be that way, let games be ''hard'' and learn to play it instead of
complaining about you dying cause you haven't learned it yet.

See now I'M gonna have to disagree with you here and say you just stepped into being the self-righteous portion of your side of the argument. NEITHER side is right here easy is good for some people sometimes and hard is good for some people sometimes and others like both to be present without being forced into something like a creative mode.

Yes but it seems to be out of whack atm. Instead of things being a bit random there seems to be alot of extremes. For example I had quite a few planets with zip for ore of any kind while others hardly have any dirt.

Have you played half the crap branded as games lately? And I am not talking about your phones games or anything labeled as casual.

Most major games have no penalties. None. You cannot lose, you cannot die, you insta heal, you revive, and you get told how to move forward still at the end of the game.

There is a reason I don't own a new console. Because the games frankly suck balls.

Normally I'd agree. But I'm saying everyone should have the experience they are looking for. That means there should be an easy mode and a hard mode. The guy I was responding to is saying there should only and exclusively be a hard mode. That means he's saying that others aren't allowed to enjoy this game.

How could you possibly disagree with my suggestion without an unhealthy dose of 'hardcore' elitism?

Wouldn't it be more effective for the people who are upset with the difficulty curve in the later game make a separate thread and discuss things that could be added to slow down progression? That way they don't have to continue reading threads that aren't interesting to them or ones they find offensive or unnecessary while still getting their point across that they need the game to be harder to master? That way Devs can easily see what the beginners of the community need to thrive and what the better players need to stay interested.

It seems like the flower trees are a "mini" biome -but I had that as my very first spawn point ever, with poison lakes! It was terrible lol. My main character seems to win all the wonky spawns with no wood for some reason, after the wipe, remade her again no wood, this time tiny flowers, I can prolly make enough dye for the whole community now.

Ok.. I am looking at this game as a potential for younger/inexperienced/new pc gamers. I am raising a 2nd generation up to play on pc. I have played games since attari and I am not a hardcore gamer. That being said, I wanted to get this for them for christmas since it is supposed to be a sandbox style game. I always test the games out before I buy them for others and they do rely on my judgement. The first release of the game had some OP.. the second patch was harder but playable. I understand you hardcore gamers want to have a challenge but sandbox games are supposed to be for everyone and not discourage those less talented than yourselves. Even the less talented / disabled need a game that has challenge but not total frustration and rage quitting. Can't we find a compromise between harcore and lite play styles... it would really sell the game more.

What if I prefer their to be a single mode with a way to variably control the difficulty myself? I personally believe gear could be set up in a way that allows for this but others merely argue "dominant strategy" theory against that. They have no self control so apparently nobody does. But that's my opinion and it's not any more right than either the all hard or all easy.

Honestly, I feel the old threat level system would work wonders for this. Or to make new biomes like Noxious or Rainforest, where the first has a lot of poison in the environment and the latter is overcrowded with monsters.

As long as we can choose to have the old, easier gameplay back with Threat level 1 forest biomes.

The issue is this. Many of the complaints about it being to hard can be solved in about .5 seconds of critical thinking, or 2-3 seconds of using your brain.

    From my post earlier.

    No they are not valid.

    A. Needs to be tweaked but can also be easily fixed by sniping them with a bow or just blocking them off. AKA it is extremely easily to counter or stop
B.That is the point of night time.. for it to get harder and for you to build a shelter or go mine.
C.If dealing with attack patterns easier than the nes era is to hard... Well I have nothing nice to say on that. Humans freaking made axes out of stone and sticks and this guy has a hard time reading 3 different attacks.
D.Um.. This is called learning not to trap yourself in a group of monsters.
    E. This is RNG. I experienced the exact opposite so far. And is probably the only valid point I can agree with needs a seriously look.

All but E can be solved by thinking and using your brain a wee bit.

The fatal flaw of providing multiple "game modes" in this kind of game is that you fracture the community. In comparison to a triple A title's obnoxious community this will always be a niche title. It's better if everyone learns to play in the same "difficulty mode" for the sake of the game. That doesn't mean you can't still have inexperienced players with experienced ones. There are plenty of inexperienced players playing feed the beast in minecraft without needing the game to be nerfed into oblivion.

This was why the hunt for planets that are your level was a better strategy. level one was easy enough for me to get what i needed to start enjoying the game without handing me everything. and then whenever I wanted a challenge I'd got 4-5 levels above myself and try to see if I could survive. getting copious amounts of diamonds and platinum on planet one is kinda dumb when its trying to force you to explore. I liked that you had to go further through the sectors to find the necessary materials for your next gear set.

well the way it is now, it's worse for the game , it's not helping that many are buying the game off Steam expecting a full game and then they start to play and get hit with a random wall of difficulty
