This game already looks pretty beta...

he was using it as a reference to what they are working on more now which is what had small % completed marked on it thats all he was using it for

I hope this is why people are getting anxious n what not... i really don't understand the neigh say-ers. Like why these posts are up could be a constructive talk... but people always gotta say you're being annoying when they don't want to read it. WHY not talk like oh man yeah i like such n such that is happening in development or i dunno... positive things. Thread isn't useless its just a little repetitive which there is plenty of on the internet. First rule of the internet should be if you don't like it leave it be on this world wide web thing. End of rant... also pretty sure beta is sooner then later just from signs but I wouldn't put a date on it in your mind.

This is something many people want to discuss, and in the end there's little discussion on it because the lack of info we still have. The problem just starts with many repeated topics about this and not really because we are discussing this. ^^

oh i know but it just becomes a "you dont know how to develop games" "i do so" "nut uh" "yessir" "doubt it" "BUT I DO" "NOOOO" discussion sadly.

 

The thing is, that there is nothing worth discussing about. The game will be in beta when the devs decide it is, we have no real insight in their progress because there could be single things that create a real big challenge to them and then take weeks to finish. I think it is obvious that we are all eager to play the game, but these threads serve no point than create a stage for people who put their needs before all others.

 

That's normal, every single thing that people are hyped for, since a game, or even a film, we always shout random dates trying to guess, since there's nothing more to do, eheh.
About the final work before beta, is indeed the hardest, is where gamebreaking bugs usually pop up and drive devs crazy, it's when they need to code ways around to make everything work and give us an stable beta, (stable beta do include bugs, just not game breaking ones or anything major).

 

I may sound redundant, but I won't speculate about beta release as long as the roadmap isn't up-to-date. Everything else is like.. spam And i think it is not right to pressurize the devs with unpolite threads to give us more information, but it is ok to ask for it. If people start arguing it is a bad sign.

Ok, i do have an estimation, mid to end of summer but that's what it is, an estimation.

 

I'm only going to post once here, in defense of the poster. "There can be no output without input." Although these threads do get duplicated A LOT, it's our job as a community to give our best estimates we have at our disposal, while trying to be nice to each other. I was somewhat surprised to see that this thread wasn't locked down yet on account of the argument. All we need to do is sit back and wait for stuff to happen.

 

A Beta is feature complete but unpolished. By the sounds of it, the game is not feature complete yet.

 

That is more the answer I was looking for. Man this thread went out of order quickly. As I stated in the original post, I just want an explanation. Not people thinking they have an answer and getting abusive towards the fact I think I have a valid point. I put the question out there as smartly as I could so people couldn't bite. But look at what happened. People just seem to misread a lot of information and reply with abuse instead of constructive comments. Cheers everyone anyway. I have been following this game for a year myself and waiting on the beta, so I apologize if anything I said came off as inpatient or misinformed.

 

Feature complete? Does that mean Minecraft is not even a beta yet? Because they are still adding new features?

The thing is, that it is up to the devs to decide when a game is feature complete, it is solely based on their personal feelings and views. So it is not up to us to decide or even guess when beta is ready.

Really? Because I'm pretty sure there were many features the devs planned for, that were added post release, and some are still not even added yet.

 

Because now people are actually discussing. Not being passive aggressive towards each other. And it is a relevant topic, that a lot of people are for or against.

There are clear seperate definitions of the beta stage and the alpha stgae. We shouldn't be calling apples oranges, it's confusing.

What they think is enough for the release makes it to the release. They don't have all the time in the world to keep adding features. They have to release it sometime. It has to be complete enough for what they think makes a good game. Still, a delayed game is a lot better than a rushed game.
Still, the devs are working hard on serveral things. They're just indie devs. They started doing this in their free time remember! I think it's just a dick move to whine and whine about them needing to release a beta when I can clearly see they're working pretty hard when I read the daily updates.
