This game already looks pretty beta...

Yes, it might be 2-4 months as you said, if the game releases 2-4 months after beta release. I guess "until full release" does not really tell anything.

This is just another one of the post where OP and a handfull of other players feel intitled to get the game asap. You bought the Game. The beta acceces was a bonus!

I agree that we could probably play and what not but its going to have lots of bugs still even when they get the beta out. To minimize the amount of bugs that we "testers" will be telling them about is their goal I'm sure because there will be so many of the same bug posted I'm sure(making it hard to sift through the ones that they are aware of or not). Gotta look at it though the developers eyes.

 

Yes, and many people wouldn´t have pre-orderd it if the beta access wouldn´t been in. You can see it both ways. The Beta Acess is a part of the bundle the people buyed, not a bonus.

We are intitled to get a beta acess and the release in 2013. We are not intitled to get it when we say it, there you are right. But it would be nice if they wouldnt been so silent about that issue. At least it would improve there relationship with the costumers for future products they plan to make.

 

dude the devs just don't know when they will be done the game the most they can promise is 2013 which would you prefer devs that make a solid release day only to say they wont be ready in time or devs who are honest and say that they arnt sure when but can promise you will get it when its ready

 

It seemed to me like you were attacking someone for giving valid reasons as to why the beta hasn't been released. I did change my original post though, as it seemed a little personal and that wasn't really my intent. I just thought backing the OP in this situation was the wrong move. He clearly seemed impatient and uninformed.

And hiding your complaints behind the veil of "This is not my opinion, just my view of the situation" is silly.

I would prefer the second one, but the issue is... Thats the problem. People think when they see intro and optionsmenue it wont be long anymore, and we got always these little side-nots in the daily news "Soon we will have tons of stuff to show" thats the issue for moste people. They shouldnt hype the community so extremly. No wonder why people think beta could be "soon" and i mean with soon in the next days, not weeks or months. I really did see that comming.

It´s like you tell a thirsty person in the dessert that after the next hill, there will be somethin special for him! And then again it´s only a llama and not a oasis.

 

I think the biggest problem here is that a lot of indie developers throw the word "Beta" around too loosely these days.

Beta should be last stage before release where the bugs get ironed out, not an overly drawn-out developement phase.

Also arguing that the game is ready for beta just because they're adding features like chat bubbles etc. is a little silly as the dev team consists of several people focusing on different aspects of the game. In the daily updates we get an impression of a nearly finished game as they naturally showcase things that they can actually show, but we have no idea how broken the core mechanics might still be.

 

Yeah i suspect with the vague descriptions of what people are doing to the game are very related to later tier game things(in the dailies). AKA they cant show us a lot of what they are fixing up. or for that matter even want to mention it.
edit: also bartwe seems to be streaming less so it probably has that direct later tier spoiler correlation (speculation)

 

I'd prefer it if they take their time and get in as much content as possible and working correctly. Getting a half complete game isn't really going to make anyone happy.

 

I say hold your buns! The beta will more than likely be released this summer.

I don't think people understand what a beta is. See this for the stages of software development. Beta is feature complete software that may still have bugs. The problem is that many games now offer access to their alpha in order to get money while still developing it but call it beta because it sounds much better. Even the beta we will be getting as described won't be feature complete as the storyline and quests won't be in it. So be thankful we'll be getting it as early as we will.

Ok ok.. Ive got to ask. Its bothering me.

doc Chicken, SK, others who think its beta ready. If that was the case why would they hold it back? I mean the forums have this sort of disagreement and discussion every other day, why not release it if thats the case? I'm trying to figure out why you believe they would hold back a beta release.

I mean they want to make money. Dropping beta would mean a boost in sales. It would settle the forums down. I can't think of any reason for them -not- to if it was at that stage.
Its like you said it makes no sense.. and while one or two of them might be stubborn about having the perfect game.. all of them? I just can't see it happening.

At the worst, money talks to loudly for that.

Thats not the thing , Money can help in a lot but its not only a question of money.​

Often the Beta launch people criticizes it wrong.​

People just need to understand that a Beta is something presentable, but not perfect.​

So I think many developers are afraid to launch the Beta because this.​

I seriously doubt the beta will come out in only a few weeks.
