This person's ORIGINAL post is neither a complaint nor done in a childish fashion, and even if it was, it was not intended!
The person merely stated that he believes the game is ready for a beta. Of course, arguments often make both sides look idiotic unless somebody has the intelligence of a genius.

On topic, it is impossible to know how finished the game is, unless the devs are into magic or guess. And guesses always disappoint people when not correct.
I was here since spring 2012. I know how painful the wait is, but I lasted it. Don't talk about the wait.. Not until the sweet release.

Could you please stop to attack each other with whining or you didn´t buy the game? I mean, come on. He speaks his opinion and you call it allready whining. On the other hand, that you judge people on a donor badge, doc, isn´t nice either. Of course we would all like to have the beta, but we dont need to go on each other throats because somebody speaks it out loud. If you dont like it, ignore it. It´s not constructive to say a person "stop whining".

This wasn't intended as a whine, as originally stated. Yes I bit, and it was shit. But I honestly think I had a valid point.

In my defense I also pointed out how his perception of the game's completion was skewed.

Feeling the need to point out repeatedly that you are not intending to whine only makes it seem even more like the opposite. Or at least, that you are aware that it's what you're doing, but don't want to come off as someone that is doing it.

That said, I'm sure most of us would rather want to play the game sooner rather than later, and that we might get the impression that at least the parts of the game they've been showing off seem complete, doesn't by default mean that all other aspects of the game are as far ahead in development to give us a complete experience, playing the game. If the game was ready for public beta/release, we would all be playing it right now (and not Runescape... sigh)

I agree on that. But i can also understand every person who might get a false assumption. The problem is, many people get a wrong picture if they read things like they are allready working on the intro and the options menue. To be honest, we all have played betas so far, i guess? I cant remember a beta in the last 5 years that had a good working options menue or a full intro or both of them the same time.

Fact is, we dont know it. The daily news may be a nice idear, but they will never show us a real picture. Some people will think it is beta ready, some people not. The only person who will ever know it are the dev´s atm. We all need a thicker skin and we should try to be nice to each other. He wont be the last person who will open a topic like that. It will just show up more frequently with the amount of users.

Edit: *looks down* and we should really try to talk polite and not use so mutch.... curse words.

 

Logged on for the first time in a while just to say you're the whiny one here LazerEagle1. OP made a perfectly good point, game looks like it's in Beta-state now and we paid to play in the Beta. The game is going to be what most companies consider 'done' when Starbound is finally released as Beta. There seems to be a disconnect between the semantics of what is Beta. What most companies call a finished game that went gold is going to be called Beta by Chucklefish. Hotfix patches for most games are going to be Beta releases for Starbound. This can be frustrating for a lot of us because the copy of Starbound currently on the devs computers now is what most people thought they paid for when they sent money to Chucklefish for a 'Beta'.

And also there is no need to lock this thread. The only ones being incendiary and flame-y are people responding to the OP from my view.

 

as you say we can not know at what point is the development we only have daily information that are mirrors, I think we are lucky you count on your hands the developers involving the audience the only thing that we have to wait and not putting pressure to dev and especially as you say we must respect and help us because we can ALL potentially create a huge group of players and games and share experiences

 

It "beta" come out soon, am I right?
