This game already looks pretty beta...

This game is already in it's beta stages of game development. I paid for a semi unfinished game to come out that was going to be worked on until full release. So why work on the game until it is fully completed then release it as a beta? It just makes no sense. I'm not trying to have a whinge, so I'm sorry if it comes across like that, I just wouldn't mind an .exe

Edit; e.g options menu and UI being tweaked and things such as facial expressions. Just to clarify what I mean.

 

In beta, I don't care about the options menu being tweaked, that to me isn't what creates a buggy game.

 

I have watched countless videos on game testing, weapon testing, tool testing, for hours of gameplay on youtube, without a noticeable glitch. To me that is playable. I don't care about fish mechanics or UI options. There are ways to prevent that even being a problem to players.

 

Yes, TO YOU. There are no glitches because they obviously aren't going to showcase parts of the game that are awfully unfinished. You'll get your Beta soon enough. Stop whining.

 

I agree that the game looks pretty close to complete based on the texture work, music, etc blah blah blah.

BUT;

You have to remember that The biggest upset to the general populous is bugs. MC when through Pre-Alpha all the way to release and there are still bugs in that game. Yes, I will admit it is still adding new content, but with the amount of time given you'd think that they'd be able to squash most of those.

The more things they take care of behind closed doors, the better(and hopefully less buggy) the game should start out as in Open Beta. Patience is a virtue here, and I will admit I'm just as ready as everyone else who pre-ordered to start exploring the universe that is Starbound.

 

I'm not alone in this. Don't see it as "whining". Come up with something constructive to say please.

 

What I said was perfectly constructive. Just because several other people agree with you doesn't mean that it's not whining. Whining has nothing to do with the amount of people doing it.

Also, it was constructive in other ways. What I said was that you have a false sense of the completion of the game, as you are only exposed to parts of it that are nearly finished.

 

The developer obviously want to have this and that in the game before releasing the beta. So be patient, we will get there. I am perfectly fine with waiting, following this game since one of the first announcements so I can wait more months for the beta if necesary.

 

Yeah, I agree with what you say too. But MC is still very playable in it's state though and most of the glitches that are in it are compatibility issues with mods, not UI or skin errors. Even with all the updates that come out for it. Thank you for the positive reply.

Are you really so upset that I don't agree with you that you have resorted to mal-informed personal attacks?

And what does it even matter? How does whether or not I have a pre-order make my point any more/less valid?

 

The difference Between MC and SB is that MC started off as a fun little side project for a programmer. Once people took notice of it did Notch realize he could capitalize on it. It was his first game and Mojang isn't that old as a company. Chucklefish has been around for a little bit longer I feel and with that comes the responsibility and the expectation of an Open beta being majority of features implemented, with minor bugs and tweaks required.

I could also argue that Open Beta's for other game or even AAA titles and/or MMORPGs only have Open beta for a month or two before launch, with the week before launch wiping all previous data on the client as to keep everyone level when they all grab it at launch.

 

Just don't even bother posting if you are going to be negative mate.

 

I don't need to stop posting; I've been on here for well over a year and want to continue to do so.

Also, how am I the one being negative? You're the one going: "What the fuck? Why isn't Beta out yet? I mean, *I* think it's ready, so it is. What the hell? I want my Beta!"
