I am not saying Whether I want it in or out, does not really matter to me.... but on the topic of immersion breaking etc I would say that is just the style of the game. Just look at the poo enemies or the penguin boss etc etc.

 

What disturbs me is that it looks like it is straight out of someone's horse fetish fantasy.

 

There are some figures from old mythology that resemble a human body with a horse head.
Like Tikbalang or Hayagriv. These two have been portrayed in a serious light, imposing figures of divine origin.
None of this comes to mind when you look at Happy Horse. It looks comic, it looks goofy, the head isn't proportional to the body.
It looks exactly like the horse mask meme.

I find it interesting how many folks are put off by this, mostly because of the feminine aspect of it. Anthropomorphism goes back thousands and thousands of years back to cave folk and Greek gods and spiritual deities all over the world. It's pretty clear that the CF folks love it as much as some of us do. Hell, they're just boobs- more than half of the humans/mammals on this planet have them. Demanding it be changed won't change that fact. Don't worry; if you really despise it to such an extreme that this fact will stop you from playing the game (really?) or race as mentioned earlier in this & other threads, I'm sure there will be Mods where you can choose other AI.

The thread states that OP wants to build the ultimate mob and force Chucklefish to change the Happy Horsie. But that isn't important. People don't like it because it's ugly. That can be fixed. It's like not wanting to have an ugly monsters as a pet.

its not a noble horse god or whatever, its a joke, its obviously a joke, it has buck teeth and its ugly as sin and its yea......

we shouldn't have to mod it in... lots of people are obviously annoyed at this, i dont care about poo enemies, or tentacles destroying the human earth, or even a race of pinguin pirates (its kinda cute actually) i dislike it because all the other races get cool ai's that obviously work with their races, without any stretching of the lore or whatever, its unfair to people who want to play the glitch but dont want to see the silly ai, its not unreasonable to be put off by the ai....

speaking of horse gods, thats another solution, make a horse god like character? make it actually look good and not just a joke

 

I respect your opinion, but have you ever seen horse teeth up close? Damn but they are bucky and goofy. I for one love the Glitch AI and hope she remains. And, again, clearly so do the creators of the game, so demanding they change it at this point when they clearly aren't going to seems a moot point. Not everything can appease everyone.

You didn't understand. If i designed that horse ai i would say the same thing, that it wasn't based on the meme.

I was mocking the "under certain circumstances" because you were being purposefully vague since you cant prove that immersion can be broken over the horse. Although we can define immersion with objective terms, it is still subjective since it is a personal experience.
But i guess you do anything "under the right circumstances."

The thread proves exactly the opposite of what you couldn't prove yet claimed you could "under the right circumstances".

actually yea you can appease everyone, let the players pick their ai's, im sure it wouldn't be that hard, it would be just as much work if they changed it

 

It's still more work than if they don't change it.

I also disagree with the notion that you can please everyone. Give players the option to choose freely between the different races' AI's, and I guarantee someone will be asking why we can't design our own AI.

 

we can design our own ai silly, because we have mods, very easy to make mods.

anyway letting players freely choose between different ai's would apease more people, so it wouldn't be a bad thing

 

why not make the ai a jester who pukes butter or something, that would make about just as much sense

This topic makes me wonder. How the fuck does anyone make a game in this day and age? Even small things like this can divide people so sharply, like the op who says he will refuse to play the game (and many like him) because of some face that you will probably rarely see (let alone the bigger issues the devs will face).

Not saying people shouldn't post their opinions or whatever, just making an observation.

 

I know, right? It's the quirky off-beat stuff that tickles my fancy the most.

 

Excluding all the other times Chucklefish has dropped the ball, I have to say they really missed a great opportunity with this AI business. Instead of each race having a predetermined AI personality for their ship, instead they should've set it so that each time a player starts a new character they start with a default,boring AI that has no personality. The player instead could, after much mining, either "craft" a new AI or find one in labs, military bases, crashed space craft, etc. These said AI could either be purely cosmetic or actually have specific traits that can benefit the player in some way. Could make exploring more interesting in some regards.

Of course considering this is Chucklefish that is probably to complex for them, considering it took them a "while" to implement ship upgrades despite mods doing so months before. And let me say, those ship upgrades are just fugly.......
