I can keep quoting this post until you understand the purpose of it.

More info equals you and your friends who want more info being happy, and the ones who don't being unhappy.
Less info equals you and your friends not really being affected, and the ones who don't being mildly pleased.

In one situation one group wins one loses, in the other both win.
Unless you're truly self-centered and don't give a single damn about your fellow gamers, I fail to see how you can continue to advocate the developers releasing more information.

That's funny, I was under the impression this game was going to be based off blueprints,
not how you arrange everything in the craft table, but ok.
Besides you want to fight the entire internet because forums will appear all over
after Starbound comes out with locations of good items and such, it will be unstoppable.

I do not care about what happens after release, me and everybody else who thinks like me will already be playing the game, I would just like to not know everything about it before release and so would many other people.
You still failed to address the issue I expressed in my post that you replied to.

Unless there is a serious leak and a troll gets ahold of it, you can't possibly know everything all at once.
While I sincerely hope all they show is mechanics, I would enjoy some showings of other things.
You won't know how to make it until you get the blueprint...
Would you rather pre know the theme for each race,
or just want to get unlucky when you decide to build your first house and find the style not what you like at all.
Or maybe you get lucky and everything is great,
but I would still greatly like to know before hand what the theme of each race looks like, wouldn't you?

Blue prints, Building template parts and such will be a part of Cubeworld though :3 eheheh >->

What I believe, is that games are more fun when they teach you by just playing the game and figuring things out on your own. It's how the game conveys this information without making you play a tutorial makes the game pretty pure genius.

Yeah but in CW you have to use prebuilt structures.

    But That's what I said o_O...
    Oh wait... hmm... I didn't.
But it's true that the templates are those prebuilt structures.

... (Just realized that it's kinda bad to be talking about another game... oops. <--- Goes sit in a corner)

See maybe I do miss the point, but I was a) Trying to explain why people like the information, and  (Main point) That although you can choose to not look at the information, if it isn't available then there is no choice for those who want it.. So I will be clear and use your words to explain it even better..

So option A, Both groups wins, one group wins since there is info, and the other group wins since no-one forces them to look at it.
Option B, One group wins (The ones that want less info), and one loses (The ones that want the info, but since its not there they can not see it)

Perhaps I am still missing something but that is your own example.

Now you may want to apply self-centered to advocating more information, but that association is just off since the actual definition of Self-Centered: limited to or caring only about yourself and your own needs. Since my way (Option A) takes your needs into consideration (Of not getting the information, by not looking it up etc..), other then the other way (Option  where it seems like we keep hearing because you (Not you specifically.. but in general) do not want it, that no-one should get it. It makes me wonder which is truly self-centered?

I can advocate it because despite how much others may want to keep the info under wraps.. heck to the point of not even wanting a beta. The others that do, are just swept aside because we like to know what is going on. I get why you feel the way you do, but please don't make sweeping associations for the other "Fellow Gamers", and trying to make decisions for us, about what we should or should not know. For I am sure, that even if there are many that agree with you, it is not everyone.. Unless of course you think those people "Less Important"?

I would like to use the only thing I agree with bombzero, some people have trouble controlling their temptation, when there is something infront of them they look.
Hmm perhaps we should add a little (S) for spoiler that way they know we are spoiling something for them so they can complain about it more easily.

First, I get how the temptation to know more is quite strong. I mean curiosity killed the cat has been around for a long time, and there is a good reason for it (But will get to that later.). But I just wanted to ask, who exactly gave you those limitations of not looking at the information? I get you are doing it because it is more fun not to know, and it isn't right to enjoy taking other peoples enjoyment away, but... the one who put that limitation on you is you, so by that logic it is up to you to keep up to that limitation. Spoiler tags (As I can fully agree with since it is just polite to warn someone), are just a consideration to people who feel that way made by others. That is how it is supposed to work, one group says we don't like to know this, the other group says okay we do, but taking your wants into consideration we will add a (S) for spoiler.

Now there are "trolls" that will try to ruin that, and that really sucks. But that is something you are going to need to deal with wherever you go on the internet. Spoilers, or no spoilers they are going to do whatever they can to take fun things away from people, and you do have to be careful they don't ruin something for you. It isn't us who like information to blame for their actions, as most of the people understand, and use those tags to be considerate.

Finally when it comes to controlling their own temptations... I am sorry if this may upset anyone, but I give no lee-way for those who set those limitations on themselves then cheat and look anyway. This is their own fault for doing so, and I am just tired of always hearing people complain about "Cheats" or "Editors" because they think it would take the fun from the game and they "Must" use it if it is available. If someone doesn't have the willpower to follow their own conditions then they shouldn't set those conditions, or they need to work on it so next time they can. It has nothing to do with me, or anyone other then themselves, and in accusing others of being the problem in this specific case is just another way they can hide from the fact of self-accountability.

Edit: I just wanted to say not being able to keep up to your own conditions (Last Paragraph) does not make the person any "Less of a person". I mean it does happen, and I understand that, but to blame others is the problem because without being able to look at your own actions for what they really are, how are you supposed to know next time how to fix those problems.

You really don't understand how any internet community works do you?

If the devs started releasing a ton of info the only way I could possibly isolate myself from learning any of it would be to lock my door and unplug my computer, then remove the battery from my phone until Starbound's release.

I'd really love it if they'd let some of the more dangerous planet types be a secret untill we find them ourselves.

Also the types of ways that we'll find items and valuable stuff, whether it'd be named monsters like the groom, or special treasure chests that you have to do things for or something. i think that that would be really neat.

If there are traps like in Terraria I don't want to see those until I'm playing.

P.S. I did see a floor trap in the video, but that wasn't a mechanical/hidden thing so it was OK.

I want them to show nothing more.
They've already given us a lot of content, and there's only two months before 2013. That's not that long to wait for the most likely release date. (Based off of general consensus)

Want to know the only place I ever see Starbound news? This place right here. And my Youtube feed, but that's because I'm subscribed to Ockpii and Murumasa or however it's spelled. In no way do I see Starbound news all over the internet.

I'm failing to see why (a more than comfortable number of) people don't want to see combat gameplay and mechanics. This is the one thing I wish to see in the game to be sure it doesn't absolutely suck. To me, no matter what else is added to this game, if the AI is not significantly advanced (instead of just running/flying directly towards you... and jumping against walls that are too high endlessly) and the weapon mechanics are not highly varied (if it were merely straight-firing, maybe ricocheting projectiles, there'd be nothing interesting), the gameplay would be a flop and the only thing that would keep me playing is construction - which is not my primarily interest. The only things I wish to not see in the game are story aspects (exempli gratia, NPC conversations).

To be honest at this point, Anything else. Each thing i see just makes me want it more, which lowers my desire to play other games. Just when i started to get the "I want starbound" out of my system and stopped checking the site each day they out and come up with the building demo starting it all over again. At this point i just want the game so we can make these wonderful things and explore these worlds.

Ya know.. this is slightly off topic, but I would like to make a word... Call it Internetism. It would mean the assumption that everyone on the internet is some kind of troll or otherwise bad person. I get you have to be careful, (having things that took me hours if not days to build at risk from someone with just lots of TNT.) But if you assume that everyone is "Out to get you" that turns a healthy dose of caution to paranoia. So let me just assure you I know lots of people with internet and phones that know next to nothing about Starbound, and although there are a lot of people out there that would love nothing but to ruin someones day, not all people are like that.

I could be wrong, so don't quote me on this.. but I think through discussion the point gets stretched sometimes, and becomes extreme on both sides till either side is discussing things that maybe even they do not fully agree with. I mean only that either the people who want more information, aren't asking the Dev's to stop what they are doing and give detailed notes about every process, and those who don't still usually take what information is given (So far at least) and have not only thanked the Devs for the information they have given, but in some aspects are glad they know something more then just the name of the game...
