If there are "Skills" then I'm sure the different races will have different skills, at least, I hope
The Lizard race (already confirmed) should be invulnerable to acid + breath underwater longer. ^_^

Races will be fine as long as each race have special abilities. Otherwise, it'll jsut be a texture pack.

I'm not so sure. What sort of stats can you even give them? More HP? Some sort of energy recharge ability? Improved Mining Speed or Melee damage? Some low-light vision ability? More to the point... if the races are customizable, does that means the attributes are assigned mix and match?
