There Are Going To Be Races!

There won't be races? No...

 

Well, I hate to dissent, but my thoughts are races are going to be just visual stuff and I think, that's the best way to handle the matter.If you add races to the game, somehow, you are wiping out that sense of freedom you get from Starbound right now.
If it was otherwise, you would have races that have exclusive features, which would make you have to play aaaaall the races in order to test all available skills...That can be fun in the very beginning, but trust me, it loses its appeal with time...

 

I agree. Visual is perfectly fine with me.

 

I hope that some races have advantages and disadvantages to make it more interesting.

 

I hope there is some draconian race. Dragons are fun, especially dragon space cowboys.

 

That'd be intense! Much like camping.

 

One or two exclusive abilities can't do that much damage to the overall balance I think. It all depends on how strong they stand out and define the race itself.

 

Agreed, I would love to see a humanoid-dragon as a character. I not, then I would just settle any humanoid-mythological creature. Phoenix-human preferably

I totally agree with the "Visuals Only" thing.
Or maybe you could get some sort of accessory that would reset your stats to human, but still keeping your epic alien look.

Same, first thing I thought was that we would encounter some race track planets or host hoverbike races. This is still interesting though, it means the avatar customization is going to be nuts. Wonder what the limits are? Unlike RSM I'm not sure the non-humans would be all that different gameplay-wise, Terraria and Minecraft did well enough with only a few stats (health, mana/enchantment, and equipment) so I don't think there's a lot of room for boons and such. Besides, amongst other things, if the different races have significantly different abilities then eventually someone is going to start posting minmax guides... and then we'll just get into racial "hats" at their worst. Every thief will be a halfling, every warrior a dwarf, every wizard an elf, and so on...

 

*Facepalm* They're classes, not races. Seriously doubt they're gonna have mages and all, but I understand where you were coming from

 

There are going to be so many races
I will assign someone from my division specifically to set them up
there will be one every week where people race for prizes
we will get our whole clan to race
and one person will always win
that person will be
Suika probably
Oni will destroy the other racers
there will be blood

what why are you all looking at me
