There Are Going To Be Races!

Hurray for multiple races! I'll probably make a human first though... Unless penguins are an available race, then I'd probably go for one of them.

Do they have leg holes in the picnic basket and walk around wearing it like clothing, or is someone carrying the picnic basket?

 

They're like Langoliers. But the banhammer remains SUPER EFFECTIVE.

Humans are basically the race in video games I always ignore. So boring, since have to see them in real life everyday.

 

Still, i hope their's loooaaads of races. It would make everyone very very happy.

 

When I read the title I totally thought that you meant like space racing or something, but this is even better!

 

Yay Better! Though, Space Racing would be pretty interesting.

That's true. But I think that I have a preference to being human for the first character in games which have numerous races because they usually make good starter races. Most often probably because of having general purpose stats.

Yup. My RP character is a nekomimi, too.

 

Wasn't there a big flamewar about such things in the Terraria forum for some time? Where one side wanted cat ears for vanity clothing and the others hated on the "furries"? ^^

They keep using that word... I no think it means what they think it means.

 

You have a point there. I hope the choice of your race will have an effect on the overall factions, like humans being hated by a faction but cat people being welcomed by the same one. This would be quite interesting.

 

The problem about such an argument is that cat ears does not necessarily mean 'furry'.. Nekomimi's aren't really furry, they are more of actual people with cat ears and maybe a cat tail.. and act like cats. Furries can range to having more than that: fur, cat nose, cat eyes, cat paws, etc. Just because they have a few animal traits doesn't immediately classify them as a furry.

But, nope. I honestly haven't seen said argument yet. I'd browse TO for it, but I do not trust the search function and there's just too many threads everywhere.

 

If they add such things to Starbound, I would be totally okay with it, since it's just optional and no one is forced to use this feature.

 

EXACTLY! It's like people freaking out if there was Gore in the game, yet the option to turn it off. They'd Scream "IT SHOULDNT BE THERE AT ALL!!!!" but they can just turn it off... it's optional.

 

Agreed. I'm totally fine with whatever race is implemented- from human to tentacledemonwingedsharkgatorman, I'm fine. As long as nobody shoves it in my face and/or forces me to use it.

 

What I hope for, is that they really flesh out the different races, instead them being just an optic change. Like having special abilities, different attributes or even the option for unique social interactions.
