There are a few things that are preventing me from loving the game.

Other than it being, err, feeling unpolished (which is expected), the input delay is really hurting my experience. I have a dash Tech and me A or D twice, doesn't always respond (with full energy) and that honestly did kill me several times when I went to clear a volcano. Also, the jumping is WAY to weightless. That hurts when the inputs are delayed.

The input delay, however, is killing me. It is only about... 1-2 milliseconds, but it is more than enough to prevent me from making fine movements.

What do you expect from a far from unfinished game only in phase 1 of three?

I did say it was to be expected Grapix. The input delay is the most pressing issue that I'm not sure is due to it being early.

I didn't know that different gravity affects different planets (though it makes sense lol)/ I've been on...4 or 5 planets and the same gravity. Maybe I should try the B Sector.

  4. @Laonfait I'm assuming you're talking about combat right? How there is latency between the attack animation and the actual attack when you press the attack button?

    Beta is Beta.

Also if you have a button delay AA and DD may not work.

How exactly can you perceive 1 or 2 milliseconds input delay..?

I think you rather mean 100-200 milliseconds (0.1 to 0.2 seconds), because even 10-20 milliseconds is something most people will perceive as "direct".

That being said, it could also be something on your end, do you have this latency in other games?

Well, if I jump, it registers about 100-200 milliseconds (thank you Archer) late, which does enough for me to over correct my movements, which are also delayed, which again cause over correctness. I did have response issues in Terraria, but in Terraria's case, I had to up the the priority to High for it to respond normally. Also, with Terraria, I never had a delay until the christmas update.

My Graphics Card is bad, but the rest of my machine should be more than capable. Also, I don't think this game needs a powerful graphics card/

Nah it won't be system related, it will be something with the software somewhere.

Perhaps try running in OpenGL mode if you did not try that yet, it could help. If you already used OpenGL, try the normal version.

Roger that, I'll try the OpenGL mode. I was playing in the normal mode.

if you have a slow weapon the attack delay will be long. And if you switch from an item I do believe it has a slight delay before you can attack.

No... That's not what this problem is about... This discussion is about input delay, which is like: *I press left and the game responds (too) late*

So the OpenGL DEF improved the response time. The response time is /just about/ fixed, though I am now noticing flickering and flashes while playing. Felt like a seizure haha! Oddly enough, full screen mode while in OpenGL also shrunk the screen/

Try to play in windowed mode, with maximum window size, it's the best way to play the game atm.

Full screen is just terrible atm, it breaks the vsyncing, something you'll notice when moving up and down (tearing all over the screen).

Okay, I'll give that a go. Thanks for the help btw.

Okay, so the flickering is still there, and seems to happen when I move. There is also a lag, err, frame rate drop now. There aren't any enemies where I spawned to bog the screen.

Is there a specific Screen Resolution I should be playing on? My Monitor supports full HD.

Try resizing the window to something smaller. framerate drops are tied to system performance.

If you get bad frame-rate in single player, try playing on a quiet server that close to your location, it will have much better FPS because your computer doesn't have to generate the terrain.

You could do a quick google search on the flickering for your graphics card, maybe there's a setting that prevents this from happening : p

    I found this: http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/246954-screen-flickering-while-gaming.html

    Maybe it helps

If your dash seems unresponsive then you're most likely not tapping the directional key hard enough. I found this to be the case with that particular tech, which is why I worship bubble boost now.

The floating issue has to do with the different levels of gravity on each planet. Not a bug.

As a human, you shouldn't be able to respond to anything faster than about 250 milliseconds. That said, I do notice that my dash doesn't fire off even when I think it should have. I've proposed support for your 'tech' ability being able to be activated on a separate key (c, for instance), but that probably won't be viable until hotkeys are a thing. I find double tap unresponsive when I want it (due to my failure to input the command correctly), and obnoxious when I don't want it (it seems to fire off with 100% reliability when I want to just inch forward).

What type of mouse/keyboard are you using - wired or wireless? For gaming I've moved back to a wired mouse and keyboard. Wireless just was adding to much of a performance hit when it came to control responsiveness.
