In terraria when the blood moon event happens the goblin army ascends.So my theory is just for one of the bosses would be a similar set of events- example the (bloodmoon).But it in starbound it would be the iceberg of death with an army of penguins! Tvtropes? Eh, Eldritch abominations are overdone. I see it more as an excuse to avoid writing good motivations. A cheap cop out so that they can return to a simpler story of "THEM BAD, YOU GOOD, KILL!"

That is why I like the Ur-Quan, their story is so horribly tragic, you start to sympathize somewhat with why both subraces do what they do. You can see the thread that would lead what were once peaceful creatures to consider atrocity, enslavement or obliteration. It makes these (aliens) seem more "human".

 

Psh... The grand villain will be the Darkbound Queen.

A little random, but I really want to make a game where you're an alien robotic probe, sent down to an unknown planet, its air so polluted that you can't see what it looks like until you get past it's atmosphere, you land next to a seaside cliff, it's obvious some sort of sentient lifeforms once called this planet home, as there is multiple structures dotted around the cliff, whatever they were, they're long gone now...You gather whatever remnants of the history of the planet as you can, on computers and other devices scattered around the vast, empty cities that cover the horizon, it seems that they called this planet, "earth", the year was 3058, and there was a war raging on, between the two supernations, The Republic of Congo, and Denmark. The war reached all over the planet when the use of antimatter weapons by Denmark caused outrage around the world, it is unknown why they, all died out, many of the buildings are still structurally sound, and most of their technology is still in working order...You later find out that a meteor the size of "texas" had impacted Mexico, which made the supervolcano in The USA unstable, the resulting out pour of ash and toxic fumes mixed with radiation and antimatter dust killed off all life on the planet, not even vegetation grows, and the seas are an unnatural colour of brown...You later find a vault of humans, sleeping, in some sort of pods, but there appears to be no power running to them, you open a pod and check for signs of life, the body is not decomposed, but it is dead. You check a few more, all dead. You later find, that the last remaining scientist in the vault pulled the plug on the nuclear generator powering the vault, he couldn't see them wake to a world like this. As you fly back to your ship, you notice a large portion of the planet's natural satellite missing. You climb into your data pod, and the data you collected is extracted. You remember nothing of your journey. Your ship's engines roar as you blast off to your next destination...Of course, this game would be very story driven, no side quests, because, well, no npc's, you're all alone on an abandoned planet, trying to figure out what happened, epic and sad soundtrack included, a built in torch and plasma cannon on your arm, lots of puzzle solving and exploring, also you can click certain machines and use them, and get info about them, like starbound's research ability, the main aim of the game is to make the player feel sad... I feel sad just thinking about it, but then again I'm a very emotional person...are you even paying attention?

 

The Guide didnt die in lava. Somehow he survived with use of futuristic Darth Vader like technology. Just modify sprite a bit and it will be perfect main evil bawss.
