Theories on The Main Bad Guy

One thing that a lot of people want to know is who the villain(s) in Starbound is. So I've taken the liberty of compiling the various theories about who he/she/them/it is. Keep in mind that these are just possibilities, and I don't know anything.

#1 Big Ape
The Big Ape, evil ruler of the Apex, wants to expand his empire to the other races.

#2 Unknown Force
I made up this one. Something like subspace from Super Smash Bros Brawl, or even the Flood in Halo.

#3 Penguins.
Nuff said. They look like cute tuxedo-wearing birds, but they will END YOU.


#4 We are the main villain. Inception!
Through ignorance, we destroyed our world.

#4 The guys who made the glitch.
They can't progran robots, so they want to go all ctrl alt delete on the universe.
Feel free to post your own, and I'll try to put them up.

 

In the end, we find out that only we are the main villain.
The amount of planets we subjugate and native species we extinctify not enough proof?

From my understanding they are the only non-playable sentient race right now right? Exactly, you're all thinking it, bastards and their tuxedos.

 

I just hope it isn't cats. I want to protect kitties, not fight them.
As for the 'prime evil', perhaps it is one entity, referenced by each race under different contexts and lore to enhance race-specific gameplay.

Like the Reapers in Mass Effect? Every civilization had stories of sentient beings who could devour stars.
I would enjoy it if there was a huge air of mystery about the main evil and you never truly knew them like you did the reapers by the end of Mass Effect 3.

 

"It's all just empty space. Space with nothing living in it. I wonder if there's a name for that?"

I think out of context quotes could be the enemy. Or you could just run out of places to visit, get bored and off yourself. At least it's not Dead Space.

 

I would think it would be kinda cool if we were the bad guys and then there would be some sort of resistance (Robot Spy) That destroy us (The Humans) and when we blow up the good humans from space wipe out memory and we turn into good guys! That would be nice, but my ideas would never make it. Also I don't know any back story for the other races.

 

A sentient spaceship, shaped like Skeletron Prime, that is seeking to destroy the hero who killed his little brother. (The original Skeletron Prime)

Hmm... would that be a reference, easter egg, or both...?

 

The Grox. Plain and simple. Apparently they've expanded to other galaxies. Damn you Grox!
