They projected a time frame for possible release last year.

They haven't even stated one now.

The reason it's boggling your mind is that you think they've done something they haven't.

I still don't get how people think that now that the devs have the money from Pre-order, the game is going to be done next week. Two of the Dev team were working second jobs to keep themselves fed, so this allows them to work full time on the game. Yes this speeds up development a bit, but nothing extremely substantial.

Hiring more people doesn't mean it will go faster, if you hire more coders, they'd need to go through every single code put into Starbound already to make sure they don't code something that totally breaks the game. Sometimes adding more coders can make it work better, if they all have been working on the game from the near start. Starbound is quite a ways into development, so throwing in another coder probably will cause problems and cause even more delays as the person goes through and learns the coding that's already in the game. (As some people know, even small bit of code can totally mess up part of the previous coding)

Artists are a different thing, they can be easily added in, though it's not really needed all that much right now. Aside from the Novakid assets that they're hiring people for. As for writers, they'd have to go through the entire written Starbound lore and the written material to make sure they don't add loop holes or any contradicting info.

So the game will be developed faster now with Pre-order doing so well, but it will STILL take time. I estimate the Beta will come out in another month or two, and the full release a month or two after that.

Im more scared of what will happen come release date/beta release.
Imagine the internet will explode. Or a hole will be ripped in space time and a wave of hot neko maids will be released only for us to find out they are all MALE! Or worse...

I agree with you 100%. I'm very happy they've made a boat load of cash from the preorders, but I'm also not expecting the game to somehow be released WAY ahead of schedule because of it. Also, I would say that beta/final releases may even be a LITTLE further out than what you've predicted, but it doesn't upset me. I am really hoping to be playing the beta by the end of May/beginning of June though, *fingers crossed*!

Yeah. I'm giving a generous estimation. But since they've been keeping a decent pace, here's hoping that it doesn't take too much longer. Hoping for at least mid to late June for beta. :D

Like I said, no matter how much real world experience and knowledge I bring in people are going to disagree. Why do people want to toss out facts then call their opinion fact? Who knows, it's a place called the internet and idiots seem to majority rule in that place. Do I care what others think or say? No. I just tried chiming in some good bits of info, just a tad and it's rejected as false. Oh well. Posts like that remind me why I hate online communities, no matter how good they start they eventually attract the sorts that I want nothing to to with even in person.

FYI, just because you can quote statistics and highlight what you want others to see to prove your point while avoiding contradictory information doesn't mean you're being intelligent. It simply means you can take information from others and copy it.

Why do you even care about this crappy thread.
It shouldn't even be there because it began with "Please release bêta".
Now you're arguing over technical and human resources specifications which may or may not apply depending the way Starbound is being developed. (Tell me about productivity loss :D)

That said I'm unwatching the thread, if you wanna rant about that useless post in a useless thread, please fill useless PM.

    Best regards,

Reason I lost faith in this community, this guy is the shining example. Joined recently, typically rude in his posts. I'm certain I'm not helping, but if I'm short it's because I'm tired of all the rude people that rushed in recently.

I have to say, every single time I've read one of your post you’ve been rude or condescending to people and I've been lurking here since February of last year, so why wouldn’t people be rude back to you.

I've been here since March 2012, and please read my recent post. If I'm short it's because of the influx of blegghhh that's been hitting the screen recently. When were my posts rude prior to the pre-order hmm? My artwork for that creature contest?

Go ahead and read my posts from last year before slandering how all my posts are rude. Again there is a reason I got like this, I was polite until that stopped working. Nowadays you cannot even have a discussion about game mechanics before someone blows up and puts everyone in a bad mood. Check yourself and your tone, for example. A post just to point out to me that you dislike me? Pot calling the kettle black type of thing there. I'm only explaining this to clear things up a little, I'm not generally like this. I don't even frequent these forums too much but the people here can put you in a bad mood quick.

I never once said I didn't like you, I was simply stating my observations of your posts, but from those four links you posted it’s a shame that only one of them actually got any real responses. Now what you say is technically true, there are a few people around here that go out of their way to tick people off, but that isn’t everyone, so treating everyone like those few people won’t help your case. Like in this thread, we only have our own experiences to fall back on, so when someone posts something that doesn’t quite fit with our knowledge, we will say something or ask something that you and/or others may or may not like, there’s no real reason to explode over it. When I posted that you could help Tiy with your knowledge, I was being quite serious, I feel that the Starbound team could use all the help they could get, so I apologize if you were offended by that or something else I posted, that was never my intention

No need to apologize, I never exploded but tone doesn't carry over internet. Load up too much info in one paragraph people will read into it that you are lecturing them, etc. so forth. I will leave this thread to die off, but be warned.....I cannot stand it when people dismiss fact as fiction. Now I'm booting up Prometheus while playing the Starbound soundtrack.

I find it kind of rude that you think I'm uneducated.. I have a Masters in Computer Science. I was quoting Brook's law, which this game would fall under seeing as it was said to release in 2012 and it didn't, Link here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooks's_law

A late game is going to be later if you add more people to the equation. Dude, I want this game as much as you do, you just have to wait for it. Brooks law may not always apply, its true, there's an off chance that maybe, if you add more people it'll go faster, but the chance of that is slim my good sir.
