The whole Arms following mouse thing...

    Now don't get me wrong I like the idea of it and it is kinda cool and at times funny, but I would hope I'm not the only one having trouble with this and I was hoping that an option could be made for this feature to be on or off for those of us that don't like/use this.

    And I thought people using caps are screaming...What are you doing!? (I'm glad i was using my tv when i read your post because my phone would just have died)
    You realise what you're asking? They didn't even put the delete character in place....This game is in DEVELOPMENT so some people are gonna be happy with the updates (like me keep them coming) and some don't. They (the devs) can't bend for every people needs. They can only learn from constructive things or criticism -> but not your's actually (because it's silly).

    While this is a good idea(I personally find the arms moving distracting for some reason), I don't see it happening for quite a while. The game's still got quite a way to go before they can add purely cosmetic options in.
    I'd say wait a bit, then resuggest this when Starbound's in Stage 2 of development. I'd definitely support it.

    Aaanyway, a Timmy is the most powerful weapon you can craft as a human. It looks like this.

    More like the OP is shouting at someone he considers deaf or an idiot. On the other hand, the OP may have issues with the smallish fonts. Most browsers have a fix for that with a universal font size change.

    On Topic: I can't see this happening in the vanilla version with their new proposed attacking method changes. The direction you attack in is directly linked to your mouse, and it would look terribly silly for bullets to fire straight up in the air from a gun that was still in the down/idle position. Perhaps there's a modder out there willing to tackle this for you?

    The font is just fun and also it grabs peoples attention. By the way Timmy is beautiful :3

    Well I meant for melee single handed weapons such as swords it works just fine with guns and any other weapons that need to be aimed.

    If you don't need to use font like that, you should stop. You're obviously going to draw a lot of attention to it since it isn't necessary and it's extremely obnoxious. It would be one thing if only you were reading it but other people are as well.

    Anyway... on topic... I thought people were just complaining over nothing until I actually tried it for myself. The arms are terrible. It looks ridiculous. It's unrealistic as well. They could fix this by just having the arms set into a limited number of positions depending on where the mouse is and, when you attack, it accurately points to where you clicked rather than constantly following the mouse. If you think that we're overreacting, go in-game and point your weapon straight down. Maybe just stop the arms from going all the way up or down until you click, then they reset back after the attack. They just look so silly going so far up or down like that.

    BRIGHT BLUE/CYAN TEXT IS NOT NEEDED.

    Also, I quite like the one handed weapons following the mouse. It can sadly be distracting sometimes, though.

    From some developer comments when this was first put in the unstable update branch, my impression is that they know about the odd visuals and do want to fix that.

    As for making a toggle for old-style vs. new-style, since this is a change in how certain weapons work and will affect how those weapons are balanced, I don't know if that is a practical option to put in.

    If the main problem is how the arms look, I'd say focus on suggestions making that better rather than reverting directional weapons.

    I for one like it. Made 1handed and spears a lot more usefull than they were. I half wish the other two handers used it to but that would be horrendously OP, as the spear already borderlines.

    I think we need to have a limit. Like when configuring a weapon you can put in it's maximum range of movement, some of the more extreme angles can cause glitchy visual behaviour.

    I have a friend who threw an absolute fit over this when we played, and over moving left while facing right because they trained on terraria and well, starbound isnt terraria. They went so far as to say "The devs better fix this or I will have paid money for something I wont enjoy. Yes, alpha, blah blah, dont care. It bugs me."

    Me? I'm a gamer, we adapt. I rather like the aiming of 1H as it adds MUCH more flexibility to them and a reason to use them over 2H when 2H can block.

    Still, its human tendancy to see anything new as "this isnt what I'm used to, its not working right, its crap". Dont lynch me too hard for this but I do support having an option to use terraria style movement, that is turning off mouse aim for both weapons and character facing. Call it "basic movement controls" vs "advanced" in the options if you want. It will flatten some of the learning curve for more impatient players and throw a bone to those who are dead set on "this must play like terraria in space or I wont play!"
