i thinking that certain equiment/building components would be weak to weight or very heavy. maybe there could also be equipment that provides lots of defense, but decreases mobility.
No lie there, we do have to balance things out like in elder scroll game. accept that we move super slow when skyrim came out. It be mostly which I want to be like monster hunter kind of like-ish.
i was also talking about having some blocks to have a weight limit. so only so much could be on them.
I know, what I meant like monster hunter, u don't move super slow walking...trying get to ur horse but ran away from unknown person. Anyway, sorry siding off a bit, yet still its funny if u find something bazaar in the game. To the main topic, I prefer slow running, instead of super...slow....walking, I hate being a slow turtle that is not on 2 feet.
I think you still don't get the post. He's talking about the weight force system that will affect all the items, in other words, if I put a feather above a block, it won't break; however, if I put an anvil on the same block, it will break. The variable weight limit, mentioned by the author, will define that weight resistance limit.
So its going be like "KAG" game, which this is involved balancing and having not all the blocks be broke part of it if anyone know the "KAG"
I think so Anyway, thanks for mentioning the game! Gonna download and test it (just because it has a linux version )
It's a pretty interesting idea, but what would be advantages/ disadvantages to it? I mean if there was no real reason to have it,I feel it would make players frustrated having to learn which blocks can hold other blocks. Unless maybe only certain blocks had this weight system, for example a house need to be built on top of a foundation, otherwise of regular blocks were used the house would collapse upon itself.
I think that is the nice of the idea! You can't simply build a house with just dirty. The weight system will make the game harder and more realistic, two good points for the game, but, if in excess, ruin the game (how you mentioned). I propose some "builder materials" by nature like concrete, brick or even stone. Of course, if you want to build a high building, you will have to enhance the contact surface - adding more layers of material -, otherwise, the building falls. To compensate the difficulty level, most of the blocks and items (if placeable) won't have influence in the weight system.
Exactly! It would add much more of a realistic experience to the building aspect, but still leaving the player the creativity of using any type of block they choose to build their house, granted it is built upon a foundation first. Also to make it more necessary, maybe these 'foundation' blocks are recommended to keep mobs from attacking the house, like how zombies in terraria could go through doors on a blood moon, mobs in this game would have different ways of getting in,unless you fortify it with these specific block types.
And I just add a middle titanium structure to hold up everything then make my house look however I want, go titanium! I would like this and to have it also be weaker or stronger on planets with different gravity smaller, bigger, respectively. In other words, on super small planet you could put a solid gold block on an inch thick wood platform and it'd be great but on a big world you could put a gold block on a iron bar and it will break through. Then it will continue smashing through floors below causing great havoc.
Yeah, the idea of gravity affecting the building way is very nice. But I think that would greatly increase the difficulty level. If you have a High-Gravity planet at first, you gonna have a bad time! To correct that problem, is important to deploy more resistance to its building materials, so, no matter where you live, the difficulty level by that point is invariable.
I'm afraid this might not be possible... Things on different planets might have different densities... In other words you could have wood weigh as much as iron or gold weigh as much as aluminum. All sorts of weird stuff. I'd carry dirt blocks from really heavy planets and use them as solid blocks on small planets... or use dirt blocks from small planets on heavy planets and watch them turn to dust.
the reason behind this is, i figured if they were to have very realistic water phyics, why not have a weight system as well.
i didn't want inventory weith. just like certain blocks break other blocks, and wearing certain armor can effect blocks to.
No, it would require different work arounds making more creativity, but it makes the enviroment feel more limited. It's not necassary.
I agree that it would spark more creativity, but how would it make the environment limited? And no it's not necessary, but it would add a bit more challenge to the game. Plus, if we only made things that were necessary, wouldn't that lower creativity?
