Id almost like to see a rendition of a Hylotl samurai. Ive always wondered if the idea of a water dragon as a samurai was plausible.

On SOkinas note, I wonder what shed look like if the develoeprs added in a kitsune mask. -w-

Somerthing about this makes me thing of Ookami, not just the male avian but also the female hylotl.

 

The male hylotl looks the best on that sketch.

The way the avians are drawn highlight an issue I noticed with the character creator. In the character creator the Avian the beaks all look way too small.

Still, this walpaper is freaking amazing, including the avians.

 

Remember that this is... umm, well "Official" fanart.

So, it's not like these are what the races would like in real life.

This was made by official concept artist, so if anything, this would be what they'd look like.

 

The book itself is dangerous to read, let alone touch.

 

That being said, keep in mind that it's concept art.

 

They do look quite different, don't they?
Perhaps mine would better represent the old Avian race prior to their genetic modification.

Though personally I will probably continue to view them through a less anthropomorphized lens out of preference. That was one of my goals with this: to help stretch the imagination of people who might want to like a race, but can't come to terms with a given style. There are so many existing styles for portraying humans that we've probably already picked one that we like (which might not match official human concept art), but our options for races unique to Starbound are limited.

Imagination is key when viewing pixel representations.

The owl avian in that sketch makes me think of an owlbear...

 

I like the art, except for the avians. Their faces look too small.
