I've been telling all my friends about this game hoping that they'd jump on it with me.

I feel like we, as a community, should try to get the game out there more in the public.

 

I kind of like how Starbound is a hidden gem within the gaming world as of now. I think it makes the game and the community that much more special and unique. I am sure Starbound will receive more mainstream attention in the very near future

 

For us as players (better: future players) it's nice if the game is something you called "hidden gem", but for the devs i think it may be important that the game becomes popular. Not today, not tomorrow, but well, maybe the day after tomorrow.
One of the biggest problems in advertising this game is that most people i was talking to about this game were excited about it, but cause the lack of playable content, any tests or any point to prove them "that game is awesome!" it's hard to convince anybody. Sales will grow rapidly the time directly after release, especially when it comes to a steam release.
The next step is the playable beta. Not only the pre-orders, but lots and lots of people who want to see more of the game are waiting for a playable version.
No hurry though, i don't want to push anybody

 

Everyone who were sure to buy it, already did it. Everyone else will buy it post-release. We will reach 1000000 goal. But I doubt about next one.

 

I can agree with this, unless they come out with a very very nice youtube video.

 

Even a bit more important: do we NEED to reach more stretch goals after that one? The game will be supported after release by adding new content, as far as i know. So most of the content they can offer as stretch goals to implement at release is content, that maybe would be implemented anyway sooner or later. For each stretchgoal we achieve there is more stuff to do, more potential bugs, more code, more.... Stuff. And more stuff needs more time, and be honest: the forum is flooded by people strolling around trash cans hungry for the next piece of fish the developers throw out. Myself included if it would take even more time to be ready the forum moderators will running circles while crying about that

 

Yea. Basically new video from Tiy, especially Trailer could double the sales of the pre-orders if we will do good job, with spreading it around the world.

 

I reckon a demo with a single pre-generated world would push pre-orders to 1.5 million at least. Start beta you'll double it within a week.

 

I think those numbers are a bit extreme, but the core will be correct. Depends on the concept of the demo. And a little bit on the gap between demo and beta.

Find a popular streamer/youtuber > Give him a copy of the game before beta, maybe 2 weeks before > He makes video of it = Profit

TB is actually how i found out about this game.

 

I would love to see TB play. I want to be excited about the game again, see some real gameplay.

 

Tb and cox together again now the only question is will castle von jessenstein male a return and will jesse be totally useless to biscuit either way its gonna be good stuff as those 2 do good work together

 

Pretty much, I have only heard of this game through word of mouth, and have not only now bought 14 copies of it myself, but told as many friends as I could about it, including my father and all his friends.

Lets see what happens when Chucklefish up their advertising, that new trailer we are all waiting for yo..

 

Once beta comes out, videos will be made. And people will hear about this game from all ends of the YouTube community - from small youtubers, big ones, and even the some of the most hated and loved ones. But it might be better if the videos are made when beta is released, that way people won't lose interest since they can't play right then and there.
