I think a good random event would be that when you revisit a previous planet you will find most of the trees gone, the ground scorched and a few dead bodies here and there. If you visit a nearby planet there is a chance of this happening when you arrive, except it is in the process.
Not really sure what you mean (I think you're agreeing with me,but not sure) , but I think it's aimed at teenagers, although it's not "Rated T For Teen"
I know, I think I exaggerated my point that the game is designed to top sandbox and adventure awards not scariest game
Scary isn't exactly what this is aiming for as far as i can understand. It's just to make you shiver once or twice throughout the game and make you more cautious. To create a feel of danger and fear the character himself would feel when exploring. It also makes the game not all "flowers, sunshine and slime guts". It's to add that anomaly feeling, that there are things in the universe we can't yet understand. It also gives some nice easter eggs to the game and secrets which are aimed towards the more curious players.
What if... As you are traveling to another planet your ship suddenly shuts down, Everything is pitchblack... You hear a large crash, but then all the lights turn on, but there is no sign of what caused the noise or powerloss.
This thread gave me tiny chills while I was reading it. Creepiness needs to be implemented into starbound like this Now I can suggest horrible creepy things ((Not violent, just creepy stuffz))
I am still giving likes to creepy ideas that I think would work well in this game. Incidentally, I'm not advocating turning this game into a horror game, I simply believe there should be some occasional mysterious events to interest players who like investigating the unknown.
Well guys think about it your saying that you would be scared of this well think of it this way they have millions of planets so these would be spread Farley apart
Here's my idea: You find a seemingly normal planet, with a small town settled on it. Nobody in the town says anything when spoken to. Digging down into the planet reveals a monster population of many dark, shadowy beings. At the bottom of the planet there is a stronger shadow being, equal to a boss. If you defeat it you get loot and things. Upon returning to the surface you find that the entire planet is devoid of life, and the shadow beings are now on the surface. The old town is now replaced with blood-red bricks and metal replacing the buildings' previous composition. There are shadows of beings watching you from within the buildings, but upon entering the buildings they disappear. If you make too many disappear you are kicked off the planet and back in your space station. The planet is now gone. Perhaps whatever caused that tree to fall never left... LASER SHOTGUN DON'T FAIL ME NOW!
Apologies for the necrobump, but this is a unique bunch of suggestions and I haven't seen anything similar, and I have a few more to contribute. I've tried to keep them rather open-ended. On a regular planet, you'll find a chasm filled with tentacles, that will eat things thrown in to it (maybe the natives will sacrifice things to the tentacle-pit?) At the core of a planet, you'll find a mysterious glowing orb that teleports you somewhere (who knows where?) In some planets, you may find incredibly (astronomically) rare trees that grow rather strange things, like meat.
>Okay let's start Mining with my New Human on Starbound! >Hmm...this is an strange glowing ball, what if i touch it? >*Teleport to An ocean planet* >Oh Shi--Glub glub glub
