We know that you can capture monsters but what comes after that? If you're catching monsters all the time (supposing you can have more than one at a time) then either you can keep them in a boring space age treasure chest OR you can make a home for it in your own Zoo!!!! This is more of an environment rather than a planet, it is a physical manifestation of all the monsters you have captured over your travels. You can add items to decorate the holding cell (so your monster stays happy) and add on to your zoo the bigger your collection gets. Also you can showcase your zoo to your friends and show everyone who is the best at capturing monsters!!! What do you think the Starbound Zoo should have and what will you be doing with your personal Zoo!?!
I acually quite like this idea, because, like wolves in Minecraft, it would get very annoying if you had too many pets following you. It would be very nice to have a zoo to store all of your pets and display them to your friends! I think there should be climate control in the cages because a desert monster would probably die if your zoo is on a frozen planet. ~iPal
There are a ton of people who would love a version of Zoo Tycoon as a minigame My girlfriend would be hooked.
YES! i want a zoo for my pets, and perhaps even expand upon this idea and have a "virtual zoo" that you would be able to load creature data from your logbook and view the creature and even train against it without capturing one! (the training would deal virtual damage that would show as white damage and once you hit 100% white damage simulation would end (unless you disable it)) (you would also use sim-ammo that would count ammo/energy used but wouldn't remove your real ammo)
White health is already in use for regeneratable health, but I really like the virtual simulation idea!
Seriously though, I don't like the idea of storing your pets in little capsules of plastic and steel. It's just wrong. It's like storing cats in tin cans! And not in a cute way...
Yeah i know, that's where i got the idea. it would be the same thing but instead of disappearing after getting hit it would disappear at the end of the simulation whilst still leaving you with your health. so rather it would be unique... it could be purple sim-damage! (Purple is f*cking AWESOME!)
^All of this. Everything. Captcha them, convince an NPC to be your zookeeper and feed them and clean. Decorate. Charge admission. Zoo tycoon it. Yes.
I honestly don't know if the game is going to have a conservation message attached, or not, but the implementation of breeding/conservation for "endangered" species is a pretty cool overlay.
Anyone can do that, just put a couple bricks and shove a monkey or something inside, and you have your very own zoo
