I have played a lot of Minecraft Hunger Games. You can definitely hide there.

Not so sure with Terraria. A lot of people would have to hide underground. But it depends on what kind of map we are on.

EDIT: Yup, you do have to hold shift in order to hide. It's not a big issue for me personally.

I once made an hideout were the entrance was behind a waterfall
and the path leaded to a ladder
that was inside a jungle tree going up in one of the highest trees of the server
and nobody knew about me

 

The way Minecraft Hunger Games works (if you are on a good server that knows the rules) is that you cannot place or remove blocks, apart from leaves.

So basically, you cannot make a hiding spot. You can find one, and hold shift xD
