The Roadmap

It's less about the importance of a roadmap update as the act or principle of the thing. It's an ongoing trend and it sucks. I agree with you that nudging a few percentages to say "Hey this is what is done" is of little importance of itself. The symbolism (and boy do i hate that word) of the roadmap at this point is a pretty big thing. It wasn't us who came up with the idea of a roadmap to which Tiy said "Hey that sounds like a great idea, i'll whip that up for you guys" then it falls to disuse. If that was how it happened, it's impact would be far less. The way it happened was after numerous failed dates at beta with silence following them all, then a large amount of the community constantly asking "What's even left to do?" did Tiy say he wanted to do the roadmap. Then after a while it came about, despite a number of people saying "Wouldn't it be easier to just give us a checklist rather than go through all that?". And when their project fell to disuse even after promised updates to their own creation... That's why people are upset about it. It speaks a lot for things to trend that way, and it kinda sucks. Starbound will be great one way or another, but this attitude doesn't bode well for further creations is all i'm saying.

 

What I'm saying is they worsen reputation, and take some of our trust by not following through. An update that we've been waiting on for over two months just ignored. It's not a very difficult thing to do either, and is far worth the time spent doing. If they confront us about it I hope they'll have an actual excuse, and not the "Not enough time for it." crap when they had over three weeks to find a good time to update it.. Also the roadmap is the same, if not more imporant than the daily updates. The daily updates may be more frequent and informative, but the roadmap gives a much bigger picture of what's left to do, and I wish they would realize that.

Thank you for the update and for listening to your supporters wishes. Statistical progress updates satisfies me more than other progress updates could.

 

PSA: I didn't see the update (or it seemed a little broken) until I restarted my browser and cleared my cache. I don't know which fixed it, but if you don't see any changes try that out.

By my rough estimation. Given the numbers and weighing other variables. I calculate ( very roughly ) that the game is now 65% complete. This figure does not include any "inside" information or unknown variables. It is all information from the roadmap. Have a great Monday. Thanks for continuing work on this game. I recall it being around 70% with the first Roadmap post, and higher when factoring out quests and missions.

As much as this means.

 

I look around and i see a lot of 90%'s. I can only hope i'll be seeing this game sometime soon.

 

Here is a Quick view of the calculation from the Roadmap Figures

Add Up each Area (World generation, Creature Generation, etc.) Then divide that area's total by the number of input percentages ( different fields within the area )
Do that for all area's individually, then divide by the number of area's. Initially I rounded to the nearest whole number, I took all fields and went out to the hundredths place for the area totals. This Change brings my ROUGH estimate to 65.26%. If you have a different way to come up with the Overall progress percentage lemme know I would be happy to Spreadsheet it for you
