I don't know what you guys are "bitching" about.
They didn't explicitly state that the update will happen on the first of every month at exactly 00:01.

You guys need something to keep you occupied. xD

It's more the fact the 'monthly update' didn't occur in said month, and that they didn't even mention it in said month.

Wow, the update threads, on the front page, are full of pretty over-defensive people. You say something about wanting a promised Roadmap Update or that we've previously funded the game and they jump all over ya. Appreciate what we are receiving... roadmap is useless... you are buying the game, not anything else... do you think you're entitled? LOL. Pretty rabid defensive fans, there. I came here and pre-ordered because I read this: "Thank you for supporting us! Your purchase will go directly towards the development of the game and help us to get it into everyone's hands sooner.", and because I read about the April Roadmap and promised monthly updates, and because I loved Terraria. Now I am finding out from others that I am not entitled to anything but the game and post-launch support!? And, I am not entitled to the promised roadmap update? I would not have bothered pre-ordering at this point, if I knew this were the case. Chucklefish is sitting on $1.35 million pre-order money for development and salaries. I think the least they can do is a) update the roadmap as promised, or b) SAY they don't have the hour or two to update the roadmap. I have to stop pre-ordering indie titles...

You ARE not entitled anything but the game, this year. End of story lol. I get your point though, people bash when someone asks for anything and I don't like that either. HOWEVER it doesn't help at all when people nag, it really doesn't.

Huh. We have a roadmap? I didn't know that. Been too busy reading the daily updates since May 11th that give us insight into who's working on what, as well as occasional pictures and little spoilers, as well as give us a rough estimate on what's being completed.

I'd rather have the daily updates than a monthly roadmap update. :blank:

Unless people are more hung up on the fact that "They didn't do what they say they'd do and we're angry just because of that." Understandable, still, but them daily updates, meng.

we're spoiled, i love the dailies, but just get rid of the roadmap if it's not representative of where they are and they're not as concerned with updating it. it'll become misleading before long, and indeed, the daily updates would be a good replacement for something that just sits there.

My $15 pre-order that I gave to support development disagrees. If I wanted to, I could wait until Steam day 1 release and likely pay less. If my $15 pre-order does not support development, then why write that on their pre-order page? In the definition of Starbounds development, I also include interaction with the developer and their promises (including those made about the Roadmap). I am entitled to the point where, if I wanted, I could demand a refund at this point. I am not going to, but those who say what I am and am not entitled to seem to have some odd sense of the meaning of a promise from a developer. I didn't give $15 early to be deceived or lied to... or told by fans my payment does not entitle me to know the progress that is being made on the game whose development is being made possible BY my money (among others). I, like many others here, believe in the promises of developers and trust their word. Chucklefish developers have used these roadmaps and updates as an excellent way to promote their game and market it. But, when I find out that I am being lied to, I begin getting impatient with things.

Im happy you're not unsatisfied what you paid. Concidering today games cost/quality, Starbound proves its worth with old school graphics infused with modern times gameplay.

Agree, but still the way how some old community members really attacked everybody in the comments who got a other opinion, and yes i had some comments there too, because i dont like it when people beginn to verbal bash on others, it´s hard to belive that the people can actually be nice. Personaly i prefer the roadmap update, if it should come. Or to shut it down for good, but at least to do one of two things. It really gets frustrating for some people. I was the only one that try to defend my point and not to get bashed under the flood of comments and negative votes from "old" community members.

Still think the issue is not "They didn't do what they say they'd do and we're angry just because of that.". It´s because of the information vacuum about the roadmap. I really cant blame people to get well... angry or upset about that.

And the way it devolopes at the moment here on the boards isnt nice either.

To be honest having played a majority of so called AAA titles, I find myself drawn more towards stuff like Starbound, although Terraria held my interest and I was there to play Minecraft during it's time as an Alpha (when it was still fresh and Notch was still updating it) I have never once been frustrated by waiting, games like these don't come around often, man I'm just happy to be here during it's early days, to see it go from a baby to a full finished piece.

By the way with the Roadmap, If I'm right by saying the Dev team is quite spread out location wise, it'll take them a while to correlate their progress together so they can update the map properly, you wouldn't want it lying to you now would you, so just sit back and watch this beauty grow.

    :)

Agree, but would it hurt just to say it will take some more time? Honestly, even the people who say where is the roadmap update does understand that from what i saw, it´s the lack of information, the issue that it wasnt even mentioned since the last twitter call from Tiy. And that was over 4 weeks ago. Really, i hope they take all the time they need and that it will be a great game. But... yeah. You catch my drift?

Well yeah, I check back onto this site pretty much every half-hour lusting after fresh info's but I just can't shake the feeling that the next update may be something pretty big, these guys have been throwing out updates pretty fast recently, now it's pretty much utter silence, either their taking some time off (not their style) or gearing up for some big progress.

Of course I could just be exploding with hope and childish excitement (haven't been this excited for a game since Crash Bandicoot 3)

*Head--->Table* Well, intressting news today, at least half of it, the other half was allready talked to death the last 2 days (durability) and still no mention at all of the roadmap...

I think they will update the roadmap when they finally completed the options menu and npc functionality. (But maybe they wait for weapon sounds, intro, cinematics, tiered weapons...)

You know, a good step, first, would be some kind of reaction. And i guess the rest of the people who waits for any kind of reaction to the roadmap issue feel the same way. The silence we get from official side.... thats one thing, allready strange enough. But the way how some people of the community still reacts makes me really think twice if they are really communitypeople who like the game, or simply fanboys of the dev´s. o_O

Yeah, they make a great job, allright. Nobody denies that. And is it an excuse that a part of the community ask again and again for the roadmap issue and gets no answer? Not really...
