Just probing people for their opinions here, based on this agender discussion:

Do you guys have problems with the male/female binary that is oh-so-frequent with character creation in games such as this? As I understand it, homosexual relationships are being "kinda" more represented in video games, but I haven't heard much discussion about gender problems. What are your guys' takes on this?

And I apologize in advance for any consequences that this topic may or may not cause.

 

Honestly, this game is one of the few games that stay out of the norm more on gender Binaries. Yes every character you play as has a male and female counterpart, but if you look at the lore of some of them it's a bit different. Take the Florans, they are a race of asexual, genderless creatures. The only reason that they have the choice to pick your gender at all in the creator is to give people the option if they want something more feminine or masculine.

Though I do guess it still has it's limits on what you are pointing out. Me personally, I fully identify myself as a woman. So having games that only have the male or female option to me is not that much of a big deal as it doesn't affect me. But then again, I'm not everyone. There are many other people who identify themselves by something other than the normal gender binary. For the most part though, it's usually either genderless or androgynous. Though there are some others that are out of those choices. I actually think that it would be quite enjoyable if games when making a character creator would give you the option to choose some other genders that are out of the binary because for one, that would make a many people happy; and two, I actually would have a lot of fun to be able to create a character that is not strictly male or female. Would be fun to have some other options eh?

 

Ya, I always felt that more options in character creation always helped, and this should be no exception. Now, I can't help but wonder if there are going to be any "relationships" in this game. I feel it could be possible since this game will be more story driven and NPC included, but I don't exactly know how it would work out.

This game is totally awesome and I want to play it, then I thought it'd be totally awesome to play it with people but I don't know anyone else who was going to play it! Then I saw this group and was like- that's awesome I want to join!. So I suppose reasons for wanting to join- meeting some nice people and making friends and stuff. Having fun eating leaves, whatever it is people do these days. ​
