The Question is... I can haz radioactive blocks?

So if radioactive blocks were to exist what would they do? Well that's what i want to tell you. Radioactive blocks(ores) can be found on all planets. When mined you are able to refine them into usable materials and some useful byproducts. The byproducts will still be radioactive, but have many uses such as making ammo, putting in food (not kidding), adding to other normal blocks, and making alloys. The actual material can be used as a power source or can be refined into bombs or weapons. All planets have the same rarity of the ore spawning.

    Ores:
    Taresonite
    Murite (only found on meteors)
    Kernum
    Bryton
    Ferous
    Ganydite

    Uses:
Taresonite is mostly used as an ingredient in bombs or reactors. It gives a very low amount of byproducts when refined, but a high amount of material.

Murite is a very rare radioactive ore. When refined it doesn't have any material, only Byproduct. So this stuff is best used for ammo and food poisoning.

Kernum is a very common radioactive ore. It is found near deposits of copper and usually contains some. It gives equal, but small amounts of material and byproduct

Bryton is a power hungry maniac's wife. It only gives material and lots of it at that!

Ferous and Ganydite are always found near eachother. Ganydite gives a low amount of byproduct while Ferous gives a low amount of material.

    What are Materials and Byproducts?

Material is the powerful stuff. Material is mostly used for Nuclear power, Bombs, Weaponry (not ammo), And many other things.

Byproduct is used to make poisons, Ammo, throwing, adding to objects for different effects, Blocks, and uses in Golems & Mecha

Golems- Golems are Medium sized Machines that will attack monsters and build stuff for you from blueprints. They also have Cameras in their eyes so that you can see where they are going.

Mecha- Mecha are slightly larger and use more Byph (Byproduct per hour) They can hover for short amounts of time. Their weaponry is much higher tech.

    RADIOACTIVE DIRT
Make plants and trees grow 10x as fast so we can make auto-wood farms.
If there was one thing I hated in Terraria was there was no way to speed up tree growth...

Ya, you had to wait 3 hours for 4 measly pieces of wood. maybe have a machine that auto cuts trees and replants them.. you can have a planet with literal tons of radioactive dirt and a machine that logs all the trees. Maybe radioactive wood can have different damage effects when you use it to make weapons, such as poison.

Why would you need radioactive ore?

  5. I don't know about ore, but weapons that emit radiation sound cool.

To refine into bombs, like nukes :D

As long as high concentration can render the local fauna and flora fucked up and mutated, i'm game.

    Exactly my idea!

Well in a image of crafting screen they showed us one of the properties of armor were Radioactivity Resistance.
I guess yes? Even though may be something on atmosphere rather than a block.

    NOTHING IS SET ON STONE!

I just set this creeper on top of a stone.
    Problem?

I said ON the stone, not AT THE TOP OF the stone. Ploblem?

Nice idea hmm if this is added i would consider radioactive barrels, like buckets of water or lava xD

You mean... buckets of radioactive lava? Wouldn't that be overkill?

I don't think radioactive dirt makes plants grow... I think fertilizer does that. Radiation usually makes things die.

Yeah, radioactivity really doesn't work that way...
But, I get the idea, perhaps contaminated abandoned planets, they have large amounts of radioactive waste and debris, maybe even intact materials in containers, due to experiments, war or otherwise.
I could see it being rather useful if handled and processed properly, for fusion or reactors to power a large-scale town/complex on your home planet, or just to build bombs to eliminate hostiles that you can't be bothered fighting in a fair battle. If you don't mind the planet glowing in the dark, of course.

Or mutate, so itll mutate or die. a mutation can be increased growth.

    Merged that for you.
Anyhow, yeah, I'm sure it could be a solid, as well as a liquid(or at least liquid'ish) material, depending on it's state. Radioactive goo/waste makes me think of greenish glowing pools of nastyness, while contaminated materials/processed isotopes are solids. I guess you could pump up the liquids and process it, or just use it as a moat, or dump it on someones head, if you don't much like them. Who knows, maybe they'll grow an extra limb, on their face.
