True. Alright, better idea. It's one of those guns that shoot mines, and before the mine explodes after activation, a speech bubble pops up saying things like "Don't lose your head!", "MINE your step", "These puns will BLOW you away!"
Related to joke weapons, I'd love to see a deadspace reference with a big foam hand that shoots little lasers and puts a little speech bubble above you every time you use it that goes "bang bang!"
It's a complete copy of the end game weapon I beleive called the devil horns. The primary attack goes bang bang and the secondary attack goes pew pew, look it up, it's great! Ahahaha
In a game as open ended as this, there will be PLENTY of ways to annoy people. A gun that fires text would be one of the least annoying.
That isn't a very good way of getting ideas for suggestions. Instead of just making a somewhat vague suggestion about something you randomly thought of, maybe concentrate on an idea that would work well if implemented. The more thought you put into it, the further it will go. And while I don't mind if there are verbal puns in the game, but I actually don't think a weapon is the way to implement them.
Have it make the brass instrument sounds like from batman! POW! BAM! WOOZUE! SMACK! BIF! BOP, and so ON! The weapon could function just like the Magical Harp! I will use it exclusively online just to make sure and *BONK* people off!
Seriously, think about this for a second, would this kind of humour fit in with the kind of humour of the game now? The answer is yes. It definitely would. For instance, say, in the future there will be a Glitch Carnival Sort of thing inside a Glitch City or Town, and the Stalls there were selling cheap little toys as decorations about the game, the "PunGun" would go there fantastically. It's a cute little thing that would be good for the game, and in my opinion, I actually would like this. (Need Alot of Puns Though.) "This Gun's Glitched" Taking one for the team
While the gun part doesn't quite have enough "oomph" to it, the mine laying suggestion is da BOMB! and a pun hammer could be quite funny, creating a massive "POW!" on a successful hit. I think that this should be a vanity reskin that you can find after a certain punny accomplishment, like some wacky side quest.
Why have a gun to do that when you can just tell people the puns yourself? Cuz they'll all probably be running from that!
Do the gun's projectiles have to be the puns? If you wanted to keep the speed of projectiles up to par (however fast that is), you could just have the gun say the puns while firing.
I don't think this is really a serious gun. It doesn't matter if the projectiles are slow, because it wouldn't be intended to be super effective.
The Text Bubbles are fairly larger than bullets right? would that be a good way to kill with a Pun-Gun considering the slower projectile speed? Heck it could always be a non-violent joke gun and not do damage but explode with a text bubble "Explosive!" when it comes in contact with a player. I think the Confetti gun was mentioned from Terraria, I don't recall it doing damage either for an example (I didn't play with it enough!)
Oh, yeah, it could still hit things, it would just be impractical. It doesn't need to actually serve a combat purpose.
