I am personally of the opinion that "too many cooks spoil the pot" in that regard. just because something is popular, does not make it good. I'm not telling anyone they shouldn't like it, just pointing out why I don't get into it.

 

I hope you don't ever realize you play starbound or watch MLP then.

 

Ok then "too many cooks with no prior cooking experience bringing down those that actually know what they are doing spoils the pot" and there is nothing wrong with something being popular, I am simply stating that I dont believe that being popular /automatically/ means something is good. I mean, Nickleback is popular.

At first, I was pretty sceptical too. I thought: Another Fan writing mix. How good can this be?
But I was amazed and still am!


And Scival: Yeah, at first friendly pastel Ponys which can rise and set the sun and the moon and have this "Elements of Harmony" and so on and a Post Apocalyptic World don't sound as it would match.
But on the other hoof it is this hart difference, that makes this believe able.

Because War can Ruin Everything, and it finds its Way in every society how pieceful they are.
And on this: It was the Zebra that announced the War against Equestria, and the Zebras that startet the Balefire Bomb Rockets and the flesh eating deadly pink Mist against the Luna Academy AND Canterlot!
Luna died in the Castle in the Mist and Celestia fleed as she had seen her dead sister, but was badly wounded too from the Mist.
She had connected herself with some sort of Super Computer and copied her Mind... and Soul to it so as her Body died, she lived on... over 200 Years before Little Pip reached her... and another 100 or 200 Years, till she could be freed and could meet her Sister and most of the Mane six in the Everafter.

But in this Storys, not all Zebras are bad. It is mostly ONE, that has a Legend behind him, and which was the hidden Leader that once had brought the stone to roll that leads to this War, and yes: He lived on because he is invicible.

As I said, this 2 Storys Fallout Equestria and Project Horizon tells not only the Story of the new Main Characters, but of the Past too.
There is told what has become out of the two princesses, what became out of the Elements of Harmony, out of Spike, the Mane six (Later the Ministry Mares) and why it has come to this Cataclysmic Holocaust.
In the first Story, you will read of what has become out of Applejack, Flutter Shy, Rarity and some of the others.
In Project Horizon you will read more about them AND more exactly, what they're roles was in that war, how it has come to this and the Ministry Mares AND the conspiracy against them. Oh and the truth how Big Mac died in Battle and the circumstances behind the terrorist attack against the Luna Academy.

But if you won't read it yourself, give it a chance, you will never understand it.
The Fall of two civilisations, because one "Zebra" and a hidden bad God thing.
(In this Storys isn't told, what has become out of the Crystal Empire or the Hive of Queen Crysalis. Thats Storys for another Author. ^^ )

 

Oh hey look, you just completely missed the point that they can take the nuclear bomb and just throw it into outer space.

 

The idea that they would bother creating nuclear anything, when they have massive amounts of clean safe magic...

I'm just gonna go play Fallout 4 instead.

 

Less nuclear bomb and more several different horrible twisted magical spells of doom with all kinds of magical defenses to prevent timely interference. And, like in Fallout, there were a LOT of them fired off.

I do like the Fallout games, but I'm not into FoE as much; from what I've seen, the fics tend to focus more on the grim side.

I did like one fic, though, despite the bittersweet ending. Puppysmiles is adorable. TVTropes link, keep an eye on the clock.

 

The reason behind the megaspells is a excellent wham-moment. It's well delivered, and strangely in character for the individual in question.

The thing that makes Fo:E good isn't the hurdur ponies shooting each other in fallout. If neither series existed Kkat still manages to make a good stand alone world with it's own lore (although the flashbacks to pony land and the Fallout allusions, wouldn't be as impressive). All the main cast are almost strangers in both worlds, they aren't goodie goodie horses, nor savage murder bots. A lot of the story is each of them finding out where they belong on that scale, not that their place on it doesn't constantly change.

Really it's a great character driven story in an immersive and unique world, seriously don't let the "based on" part fool you.

Then don't read the "explained universe" Fo:E didn't want or need a sequel. Kkat knows EXACTLY what she was doing, and if you mean the readers are the cooks that don't know what they are doing, then I take that as a personal attack dude.

It may not end up being your taste, that's fine, but you're being to much of a buttbutt to try it and even see, but seriously you can't stand there and imply it's "not good" without even trying. Also indication of worth =/= proof of worth. I'm just saying popular fanfiction is usually worth a try, because fanfiction isn't like commercial things like Nickelback, that can pay to make itself know. A fanfiction dies if people don't go around telling others its good and meaning it, because it's just a lonely island in a sea of literally everything else. Plus there is a difference between good fame and bad fame.

 

Meanwhile I'm trying to get My Little Fortress for Dwarf Fortress to run with DFEverywhere so I can host games for my friends to join/watch. Sadly even just attempting it with normal DF doesn't seem to be going well since I keep getting infinite loading screen stuff on the website. Guess my dreams of horrible doom for adorable, multicolored ponies will have to wait for a while.

 

My comment about too many cooks was referring to the fact that a ton of people jumped on the FO:E bandwagon and made tons of spinoffs of it or fics set in that world and it was a sea of garbage to wade through on Fimfic. The clarification of "no idea what they were doing" was the lazy/hack spinoff writers latching onto something popular to try and ride the coattails of its success.

That is what I meant by "bandwagon" fics, where one gets popular so everyone jumps on the bandwagon and tries to copy it and its success, leading to everything being a watered-down mess and oversaturating the site.

 

Still not seeing how spin-offs ruin the original. They don't effect it, don't read them, etc.

The explaination behind the "Atomic Bombs" in Fo:E is pretty simple, but needs some Time.

You see: The Idea for "Megaspells" came from Fluttershy as the War was in its first... 10 Years.
She created with the help of some Unicorns a Base Matrix to enhance the Power of simple Spells and cast them over a wide range of Area (AoE).
First she had created it, to cast powerful Healing Spells on a Battlefield, to help multible wounded at once, but it had the Side Effect, that ALL wounded on both Sides was healed, also Ponys and Zebras alike.
(That leads to a second Fight over the same Battlefield, that first was won by the Ponys.)

The Idea was brilliant, and the Ministry of Arcane Sience took this Martix and researched it more, to combine it not with healing, but with destruction spells!

They builded a whole array of Mega Spells Matrix Bunkers, with each a different Megaspell in it.
They used special Talismans for the Targeting, so the Megaspells would hit the Point, this Talismans would lead them.

Then an Accident ocured, and Fluttershy becames a "Traitor".
She had given the Zebras the Documents for the Mega Spell Matrix, because she believed: If both Sides have Weapons of Mass Destruction, it would end the War because both Sides had too much fear to use them.

But on the other side was this special Zebra, some sort of a Double Agent, so her hope had never a chance to become real.

The Zebras hadn't the same magical Talents as the Unicorns, but theire Magic Secrets was in theire Talismans.
So they builded Weapons with Talismans as triggers or to make them Stronger or give Weapons Special Abilitys (for example: A Rifle that cast a spell on every standart bullet, that enflames its Target on hit).

And so they builded the Balefire Bombs.
How they really function, is a secret even after you read both storys.
But there are some Events, where one of this Bombs are used.

First there is the big Explotion. After that, the Part were the Bomb was activated disappears, and a Globe of Radioaktive Fire emergres. (From Hell or directly from the Sun or another Star, thats unknow.)

The globe detonates and releases the Fire in it, that rushes over the land like Water and burns all to dust that it touches.
After the Flames disapeares, all that remains are a black, dead and highly radioactive landscape.

That is the MLP Version of a Nuclear Bomb.

And there are 2 scales: The big one that are fired with a rocket, and the Small ones for a launcher, similar to the FATman.

Celestia literally controls the sun. Why would you need to create bombs when Celestia can just stop the sun's rotation at a certain spot, and move it slightly closer to the planet, eliminating enemy regions. Or Luna could use the Moon just to simply cause massive gravitational disturbances.

Maybe because they CAN'T?
Moving a Stellar Mass only goes with High risks. Yes they "move" the Moon and the Sun around the Planet, but they are still on theire Routes.
To bring one of them closer to the Planet...

First it wouldn't be fast enough, second if they would do it faster, they maybe couldn't stop the nearing and would maybe risk to crush one of them into the Planet.
Results in an OVERKILL not only for the Zebras, but for the whole Planet.

The Ancient Zebras have learned that the hard way.
One of theire Tribes had made a biiiig ritual to call a Star from the Sky and throw it on a hated City. But it resulted in theire own destruction.
The Star fell on theire own City and eradicated it from the Planets Surface.

Funny Part is, this City was in the Part of the World, were now Equestria lies.

But I see, I could bring on Argument after Argument and wouldn't come threw your thick Head to give the Story a chance...

It's like to try to make a "nice Guy" out of Scival.
Maybe there is a chance, but the work to be done is too much to even try it. xD

Probably true There are too many things to do and not enough time to do them, so I get really picky!
(For example of how many things to do, I still have 50ish games on my steam account I own because of Steam Sales but haven't even started playing or installed them yet)

 

you forget the fat common ponys arent really "friendly" most of ponys are racists or classists, even within theyr own structrure eah pony city holds an strong mentality and lifestyle shunning out everything thats diferent or defies theyr comfort zone, as appelosians were to actively fight off buffalos, even if it was harmless pies for kids safety reasons, and zecora wasnt well recieved either, canterlot high society status still threats everything else as garbage most of time, ponys are soo easily fooled and herded in many episodes, soo fast to misjudge, soo any charismatic pony could have entire towns to willingly do its bidding

 

They don't need to move them. They can just use the force they'd normally use to move the sun/moon and just go all "I’M A’ FIRIN’ MAH LAZER!!" on their asses. Or at least on whatever they could be using to attack Equestria.

 

Also Celestia would never commit Genocide. She wanted the war to end with the least bloodshed as possible on both sides until the end.

Also, while trying to convince people to read something can we not throw out some of the big spoilers like, "Fluttershy was a 'Trator'"?

 

Well, then she should have banished them to the moon for 1000 years, we all know that's possible, and then no more dying on either side
