The boss itself doesn't bother me, but having to redo a long dungeon with respawned enemies really kills my interest in the game right now.

But think of all the PIXELS you'll get even after losing 30% on each death!

Oh wait..... nothing to really use them on. Nevermind.

I died a lot, however I would have voted easy (I abstained due to the complexity of the issue).

The boss is ultimately very easy, but the combination of invisible beam bug (I was 1 hit killed in defense 120 River Armor with max life just now), and platforming errors combined to make it very frustrating at first.

My first 5 deaths were due to falling damage.

Even if it becomes a chance to farm something that is really worth while, one of the things I hate to do most in video games is have to replay content. Replaying boss fights because I lose, that's just fine. But the 20 minutes before that, which I already surpassed? I did it once, and once was enough. Get me back to the boss fight, now.

You know what franchise was awesome? The Mega Man X franchise. If you died to a boss and still had lives, the game would respawn you at that little hallway that was the boss room entrance itself.

That's actually a tradition that goes back as far as the Classic Mega Man series. I want to say it started in Mega Man 2, but... ah, my memory's failing me.

The boss itself isn't difficult at all. It's a classic learn the pattern situation, but the glitches literally ruin the beauty of it because there's no checkpoint. The whole level was beautiful, but after 20 deaths only to realize I was taking glitch laser damage. I hated it. Granted I can speedrun it in 10 minutes or less when its 100% fixed, but they at least need to open up the world a bit more. It actually made me miss the sector system, At least I wasn't stuck in a single low risk/low reward solar system.

It gets really boring after having to do the whole dungeon over and over and over again because there's no checkpoints. Its kinda killing my interest in continuing to play tbh, if there's going to be more extremely obvious and stupid problems like this.

Also, how do you block the laser beams?

Either use a shield and make sure the shield 'blinks' in color when it hits, signifying a perfect parry that won't use any shield health, or a broadsword's parry.

If you know what you are doing, a broadsword is like easy mode. With it, plus two of the techs you can get from quests before facing the boss, I'm typically able to beat the boss without taking damage or letting it spawn enemies.

I'm playing in Unstable, though, where the phantom beam issue is fixed (for me at least).

Just so you guys know. The latest stable update (today) should fix the lasers not being where they appear in phase 3.

My complaint is that the boss is TOO easy....after I got to it I beat it in like 2 minutes.

The way I've dealt with the hammer guys is to get out of melee reach of them and keep sniping at them with ranged attacks. They don't seem to be able to jump, and will just move back and forth rapidly when you're out of their reach. And they're slow, which gives you a chance to back away and get the high ground on them. When you're facing them, there are none of the goo mutants anywhere nearby, so it is safe to wait for your energy to recharge when shooting at them.

I found out the hard way that the hammer guys can jump rather well if you're in their path-finding range, so I usually run a loop around the survivors running and gunning. If you make it around corner fast enough they forget you and eventually focus on the survivors giving you time to recharge/heal.

I agree with cheeseywiz98 in the end though, Now that it's bug free it's actually really easy. Of course before stable I had a ton of practice. I think the glitches literally made it seem harder because now that the lasers are in sync they do a lot less damage if you just block. I literally beat the boss with like 15 bandages and a cheap shield. Also I found out that now that the laser bug is fixed two shields are really op in this battle. I barely broke guard once with two shields. It seems that there are a lot of little ways to get around even getting damaged by the games bosses. I wonder if there's gonna be achievements later for doing things the hard way.(No heal,no shield, no safe zones)

    He's not hard, he's frustrating.
A hard boss/dungeon can be fun.

In this boss there are only 2 options: Either you DO like platforming/are good at it, and than he's easy.
Or you DON'T like platforming, and than he's a pile of impossible grabage.

The people that say he's easy if you know how to platform, and learn how to platform, forget 1 small detail: This is not a platforming game. This is the ONLY spot in the entire game where you have to platform to advance. It comes out of nowhere, makes it impossible to learn the jumps (because you have to grind through the mobs again if you mess up), and when you finally DO get it, never comes back again

  16. myomi13

    myomi13 Pangalactic Porcupine

If you equip either bouncy tech or pulse jump tech the platforming is much easier, but once you get a feel for where the platforms are it's not that bad...and I'm the queen of bad platformers. I can barely play Assasins Creed I'm so bad at it. And there is a third option. You can spam shields/bandages alongside the techs that seem made of all the jump fails. It's like Borderlands in the sense that if you want things easier you can do some sidequests for better gear, but its not mandatory. There are at least two quests in the outpost( one as basic a getting a single diamond) that give you blank tech chips. It's frustrating, but it teaches you to prepare rather than just jump in. Unless you're doing a no tech run there's plenty of handholding, but if you're doing a no-tech run you probably don't think the boss is difficult enough.

Just Wussed out today after 22-23 attempts at the purple dweeb. Was no longer having fun. That being said I was very close several times and I never did try a broadsword just a shield food and some bandages. If I didn't suck at platforming so bad it wouldn't have been so annoying but I'm more of an explorer/hunter type. My main problem was double tapping the switches and having to run back again to reset it. If I took my time and made sure well lets just say sitting around that long is just as bad as going back to fix a double tap.
Long story short I skipped it today so I could get back to fun parts of the game and had a blast dying over and over again on planets above my pay grade.

I think I'm waiting for the alternate paths to be implemented or maybe I find a food that increases my health to the "I can make three mistakes not one before annihilation" level.

Final thoughts. Overall I like the design and I don't feel it's overly hard but as a gateway for the entire game, especially for new players I think it a bit rough especially considering you can't visit anywhere else until you completed it once. A refreshing dip in the ocean might have inspired me to try again later but by then I had already snuck by.

I've found it frustrating enough to stop playing.
I wouldn't mind the fight being hard if I didn't have to clear the damn base every time. So I can make an attempt every 10-15 mintues? Really frustrating.

Btw, under the platform I still get hurt by the lasers. There is no safe spot. I've been spending all day on this. Maybe I suck, but I'm playing on casual. I'm not aiming for a hard fight. I want to get access to more stuff to make.

I already was disappointed that the character that I created after they said no more deletions is gone. :/ So I already had to start over.

well, you can also run the dungeon, the monsters dont do damage (on simple contact), so if you run non stop, you go to the boss without having to fight (maybe exept one tough one with the strong-axe mob in a corridor
