A frozen world on the edge of the galaxy Hoth is covered almost completely with snow or ice. On the surface the player may take a continuous damage, perhaps just at night, not sure. In ice caves creatures that are hostel and ferocious reside. Yeti, or a yeti like monster 12 feet tall lives just beneath the surface level. Deeper down, geothermal energy warms the caves allowing for a greater variety of fauna... That is the general idea, it's basically a rip off of Star Wars but with more creatures and a deeper habitable zone. The deeper regions could have a large variety of blind creatures that sense you by either feelers, smell, or you stumbling into their trap...
The pictures I saw of the snowy area looked good, but it was more like Earth in an ice age. I enjoy the excitement of not knowing what you might find on a totally sci-fi planet. The weird and the wonderful, bring it on!
I'm not sure blatantly copying an idea from Star Wars is a very good way to make a video game Well, Phasesabers were pretty cool... As long as you don't call it Hoth I am sure it will be fine Just don't expect me to build ATATs or something
I'm sure an ice planet won't skip the dev's minds. I don't think planets will have pre-set names though.
On screens we aciually could see ice planets with PENGUIN KING : O just imagine penguins piloting AT-AT
Well, we've seen riding animals and we've seen riding mechs... Tauntauns and AT-STs are just a couple flaps to the Northwest. But they might not work too well since that sort of navigation only proves to be useful in 3D spaces, I think. ~ockpii
The only reason I put 'Hoth' in the title is because everyone knows what I mean. If starbound is going to be a true exploration game, a planet could be anything you wanted to name it - ...And... it doesn't have to be snow everywhere, I like the idea of geothermal energy being a way for life to survive. Some moons of Jupiter may have life deep under the ice - we don't know, that's what makes it interesting. Think of a planet where, the farther towards the surface you went, the harsher and more inhospitable it got - that's what this planet is.
