I see the potential use in any RP cases that may spring up, or adventure maps of any kind. Support! Just one question, would there be any incentive to read many pages of a story (if any were to be created)?
It would be awesome if the journals kept dates and hours so you can track how long you were where. Like (entry number/planet/day/time)
Yes! So I can make diaries journals of my adventures! Really nice idea, I don't know what the "bad" sides could be off this (maybe when a world is filled with tons of books it could be hard to keep track of which is which and such.) So I say AYE!
i would like that to keep a journal of my notes and to write things down in my own perspective which will be a nutty professor
If "too much books" would be a problem, I suppose a title of the book would be necessary; probably something visible without actually reading it. I'm wondering though if a "lock" would be needed, in order to prevent other people from editing finished books.
Gives adventure map creators a brand new tool that may have lots of applications. Allow players to write down lists, their own stories and coordinates. I'd love to have books that not only let you write but actually allow you to draw in it. Imagine, write a brief list of the resources you need and a rough sketch of a mine system. In any way, I fully endorse this idea.
http://forums.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/the-passing-of-knowledge.1034/ I made this exact topic ages ago so obviously I approve! (Maybe since suika made one the idea will get more popularity! :> Hell the fact that two topics were made on it should show how much we want this in game!)
YES! 100,000,000 to the. I absolutley love the idea of having a grand library filled with stories from all over the galaxy. Everything from Grandma's Apple Pie recipe to Magic or Science: Where to Draw The Line. Just watch out for Marisa, she may want to "borrow" some of your collection.
It would be specially awesome if certain books would be bound to steam accounts, so good books would have the player's "signature" in it. As I stated on the previous thread, yes it would be an incredible feature. Able to write down, maybe even sketch a doodle or two on a spare page. Draw a crude map and the directions through it leading to a rare ore deposit, or a list of resources you need gathered and a badly drawn phallus on the bottom of the page just because.
May Sithis guide your blade mortal, you are one brilliant man, I would love to wreck a ship and just get some book or another... ooooh or maybe finding a book on a planet written by another playerrrr' By the void!
Hm, that's actually a good point there. Although writing can be just as offensive as images, it's more... I don't know how to say it... subjective? or easily interpreted differently? I don't know the right word for it. I can't really say "view it at your own risk", considering books can easily be disguised and such.
I think this idea would be very nice for the hardcore fans, and it would also give the game a new dimention with your character being some kind of a chosen one through written lore from ancient books!
I would love this, im going to follow this thread. I have always wanted to make something like a library in MC or Terraria etc, but the materials given werent good enough.
Sounds like a neat idea. All the fan fic people could finally put a story actually in game where more people would see it.
I totally approve of this idea, being able to write books and store them so you can read them later would be awesome. It would add a lot to the variety of stuff you can do in the game, the more options the game has, the better it will be! And being able to write journals with the stuff you have seen and where you have seen it or just to keep them as a reminder of what you have to do next would be extremely useful, period .
