The Other Simulations

A program is an extreme far cry from actual life.
The Glitch are robots, but I don't recall ever seeing in the lore that the previous races were. I could be wrong, and if I am, by all means cite the lore that proves me otherwise.

Even if they were all robots, to have such power, resources, and influence to spread a artificial racial experiment across the universe multiple times implies superior technological advancements.

It is still possible to simulate even if the robots are not alive. Now put on the cape of fiction and you can see by looking at the Glitch they are living "actual life" .

And its more of a assumption that the simulations would be robots as robots would be the most likely "race" for their changeableness. I'm not ruling out any biological simulations though.

I suppose it would be up to the devs to decide whether there are ruins or remnants left of the sims. If the creators had nanites they could simply erase any evidence left behind. However I personally would like there to be ruins. From a story point of view.

I think hes trying to say the advanced race removed all evidence of previous experiments on a world, not the history of the current experiment
like they ran one experiment that destroyed it self, then removed all traces of that experiment and ran another one on the same planet that lasted much longer. they didnt remove evidence of the history of the 2nd experiment, but to the 2nds knowledge the first one never existed

Of course any new simulation would not know the others existed. What I'm saying is they would find traces of the past simulations (ruins, artifacts) and react to it.

Would definitely love to see some ruins and lore from previous simulations. You could even create some sort of future quest around it.

You should definitely develop on this idea, cyberspy:rofl: and post it in suggestions or something.

I find it potentially possible that, in fact, there are many traces of the long-dead experiments, but very small and few and far between. If they were robotic in nature, it's entirely possible that they've simply been salvaged into nigh-on nonexistence- that is, what was left of them was recycled into the next experiment, and then the next, and the next. From a resource standpoint this makes the most sense, even a highly powerful race like whoever set up the experiments would probably see no point in being wasteful and leaving things lying around, but I'd love to see remnants, pockets of the old experiments that they missed or were too far gone to be reused.

Especially in terms of exploration of "dead" worlds that have been totally ravaged by whatever the experiments used to destroy themselves; a highly radioactive planet with a few empty ruins would be an awesome exploration destination, for example. Something like that would probably be really high in environmental hazards (acid rain, poison water, massive craters for fall damage, etc) but have little to no life remaining.

I think this is a really cool avenue to delve into and expand the Starbound universe with and I'd love to see it.

Yeah. Seems like this would make for a great questline.

To further this the precursor race did not destroy their simulations with their own hands their simulations did that to themselves. So it would be a cool event to find scarred planet of sorts.

I see that, but my point wasn't that it isn't possible, it was that it's not possible for someone of our current technological means, further bolstering my point that these Creators are of vastly advanced technological origins.

Perhaps, but robots are not a substitute for organic life. If the Creator wanted as real of an experiment as possible, only organics would really do.

Use all the tech that they may of had but something will always be left. We would get traces of the "removal" also.

On another note we should be able to find precursor ruins/logs/notes or at least some trace they existed.

But anyways the both of us are using highly hypothetical theorys here. If we get more lore we can debate more effectively so I suggest we disscuss this more later.
