The other races of Starbound

Obviously we know about the seven main sentient species inhabiting the Starbound universe, but I've noticed several mentions of extra species that we never/rarely see.

-The penguins, who appear to be a race consisting entirely of pirates such as Dreadwing and his cronies as well as the little guy on top of one of the stores in the upcoming outpost.

-The progenitor race that created the Glitch and all the other experiments like it.

-The ancient aliens who enlightened the Avians. It could be theorized that they are the same progenitors who created the Glitch.(These guys might have been written out of the lore. I'm not sure.)

-The aliens with particularly oddly shaped heads who inspired the Human's wanderer armor.

-The mysterious missing heads on the celestial Gate.

It looks like there could possibly be a plethora of non-playable sentient races out there in the galaxy. Thoughts?

i hope for more add in the future, but maybe some of the race you mention are extinct

Hmm... You bring up a good question with the Wanderer's Armor. Those aliens must look wacky.

As I understand they're their own race, using apex text and such as a placeholder.

 

I believe the cultists are just a bunch of regular races that are wearing cultist clothing.

 

I imagine cultists to be like Jawas. Freakishly terrifying rat people that hide behind a black mask with red eyes due to light-sensitive eyes/being utter horrors.

we have the eyes Guard too but in trivia apparently, they are Glitch

• Eye Guards, when unmasked, reveal that the model under all the clothing is Glitch in origin.
• These Guards are alluded to briefly in The Bone Dragon (codex) as "strange, winged demons sighted on distant planets."

I always assumed the cultists were Glitch for some reason.

 

It does kinda make sense. I mean, their outfit does fit kind of a medieval cult moreso than say, a Mayan cult or a cyberpunk cult.

Ya know... After looking at that Cultist thread and then this one, the colorful peoples' faces look a bit like the one on the cultist altars...

I guess I forgot about the argarans. I discluded the cultists and weird eyeball demons because I wasn't sure if they were a race or not. I only recently discovered the frog and mole people. Seems like a lot of earth's fauna came from the stars.

 

I'm curious really about colorful people. Were they just added?

Yeah, there exists a mole merchant, at least in the nightlies. I'm not sure what he does or where he's found, as I've only ever spawned him in.

 

Cultists are the glitch as I found a mutated Apex kept in a cage and there was 2 cultists next to it. When I attacked them there speech was similar to that of a glitch.

 

I don't know if they would take things from in the game and make them into a race, but rather just expand their N.P.C. So I dont think they would make a cultist into a playable race, but rather, give them more structures and things.

 

What if the cultist were descendents of the progenitors... Just a thought...

 

Althrough their cut dialogue implies that they are related.
