The ominous council of vague evilness.

So, we know from the lore that a lot of the more oppressive races have interactions with each other, with big names like Thornwing, Greenfinger, and Big Ape popping up a lot. They seem to be planning something big, as evidenced by the Apex's scientific reseach, Greenfinger's notes on the various races and...

...his implying he had something to do with Earth's destruction.

How do you think all these ominous actions and interactions are going to play out in the overarching plot of Starbound? Personally, I think that eventually, you'll visit the (still existing) homeworlds of the various races, basically being a monkey wrench in their schemes, until eventually there will be a big final boss battle with some planet devouring monstrosity they summoned/created..

What are your theories?

I reckon battles with the big names will take the form of ship to ship battles, which each one (Kluex, Big Ape, Greenfinger, etc) going down in an individual blaze.
And yeah, my theory is that the final boss battle will be against whatever hatched from deep below the earth. Maybe that's how it breeds? 'Impregnating' planets with an egg that eventually hatches in the core and consumes the planet?
Eh.

 

Nah, that's the human project. (Maybe to combat said Lavos knockoffs? Remorse: Now I feel bad for massacring the human bases that had the blueprints in them.)

 

There could easily be a human enemy later on, too. Maybe the head of that military organization that utterly fails at containing prisoners.
I'd really like to see a 'final boss' type person of every race in the game.

 

I'm pretty sure Greenfinger is one of the enigmatic precursors that built the Glitch. They're sure to be involved in the overarching plot - a thread like "someone built us but we don't know who" can't just be left there - and the vague circle of world leaders is a great place for that.

 

Don't worry, those actions will be stricken from the record upon next patch.

All this talk of lore and such has me wanting to create my own race, but damn that'd be a lot of work.

 

Greenfinger is most likely a Floran, due to Floran racial commentary mentioning him and other codex info.

 

He's certainly part of Floran culture, but he always describes the Floran race as "them" in his texts, never including himself.

 

Point taken. And "Greenfinger" implies green thumb. Maybe he "grew" the Florans as well as being one of the ones who built the glitch?

 

Everything is connected: the leaders of each civilisation are working together. Maybe every single event that has occurred is due to the fact that they are building up to destroy the tentacles.

...then we come along, screw everything up and have a choice to fix them, or destroy them.

I'm just crazy. I have nothing to back up my claims, I like eating apples and nothing rhymes with orange!

 

Personally, I doubt their intentions could be quite so benevolent. Maybe the human government could be planning something like that, but I can't see the Miniknog or "Kluex" planning something that would benefit everyone in the universe like that.

 

Maybe he talks about the Florans has being a 'lower class' to him and he is a 'higher' more intelligent Floran. Therefore, he separates himself from the other Florans that aren't as smart as him.

I was just going to mention this, might as well anyway. That Greenfinger could possible be someone who isn't a Floran, but uses the name as a pseudonym.

 

Not quite. The other races look down on human leadership and are hesitant to even let one of them join their plans. We know nothing of the Hyloti and Kleux has no part in any of the meetings.

 

Its benefiting themselves though. Just because something seems selfless doesn't mean it isn't selfish. What's stopping this giant octopus devouring every single other planet... or reproducing... thus placing every one in danger.

 

It's probably already reproduced.

Every planet with a corruption/tentacle biome is probably in danger of having a giant eldritch entity burst forth.

 

I'm skeptical that the tentacle biomes are home to world devourers by default. I get the sense they're just supposed to feel alien and unnatural to us, though the "Corrupt Dirt" does imply something is afoul, we have no clue that it's related to Earth's demise.

 

This is true... SOOO many theories... and little to no evidence.... I just like creating fantabulous theories

 

Then all the tentacle entities form together and make the giant Space Octopus.

 

No matter what, I'll always believe the tentacle monster is Cthulhu.
