Terraria's grinding is not better. Both of them are equally bad.
Back in 1.1, the game had next to zero reliance on rare drops. In 1.2? The game is filled to the brim with the stuff.
The items you get from the bosses, or enemies, you grind are almost always useless. When I was farming for the Nectar, I had a LOT Bee Wax in my inventory. And I didn't need any of it, because I have an end-game character, and the things you craft with wax is useless to me at that stage.

 

Oh dear the mining laser, the one thing that mines as fast as you can glide down.

 

*discards mining laser because I kinda reset Acii for other reasons*

Note to self: Hunger makes you not want to concentrate on stuff.

I don't really play either anymore. Again, I liked Terraria because you could ease the grind somewhat. The grind there was more my style, I always got something for my effort, and unlike borderlands it felt like an adventure, not a series of dice rolls that can screw you over by only giving you crappy weapons. If you got a drop, it was a drop, all my effort felt like it was more rewarding with Terraria. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved both games. But once I got to the end game in both things just sorta felt... unrewarding. I never completed new game+ in borderlands, and I never tried any of the moon events in Terraria past the pumpkin moon. Both stopped being fun because the adventure came to an end. If I ever do play either again, it'll probably be in multiplayer, cause that always tends to help inject new blood into a game for me.

Even though this rum/alcoholic talk is just fun and roleplay, it still kinda gets me ;n;
