The next wipe is going to make me sad

You cannot say that with any confidence. Even the Dev won't know for sure until launch more than likely.

 

NO, there is NOTHING telling us that it will be the LAST one.

 

As it has been said just literally a few posts ago by Sankto and me earlier, the wipe-less feature on the front page does not guarantee that the system wll be in the next patch, and you can say this for the majority of the list. The post is titled "The Future of Starbound,"not "Koola Update <date> etc." It's the grand scheme of things.

I will be a bit sad too, my ship right now is AWESOME! Though, I took many pictures of it so that I can re-create it once the wipe is done. I'm expecting the wipe, so it'll be easier when it happens. I'm using this time to learn how to build things better in game instead of collecting valuables I'll loose in a little bit anyways.

 

So why would you imply, that the next patch will have wipe? Why can we agree, that there's a solid probability, that this feature, as pressing as it is right now, can be on one of the top priority places? Some of the points in this particular note by Tiy suggested some kind of priority in it, and this one got no remark about putting it in last place.

I just like to think positive, if it's a pressing matter, like weapon overhaul, they'll work hard to implement it sooner, rather than later. And I've understood this as "there will be at least 1 more wipe UNTILL this system is implemented". And after - rainbows and unicorn + everyone happy

And yes, there will be MORE wipes after this system is implemented, but the whole point of this is to keep your character INTACT, if you so desire.

PS: This is only MY understanding, I'd like to stick by it and believe It'll be so, don't want to be a Debbie Downer.

 

Im actually looking forward to it - because it would mean juicy new content ;D

 

And in the post as others have pointed out says REDUCED chances of needing to wipe not ELIMINATING for that system.

How are people coming to the conclusion that it will let you keep a Character "Intact if you so desire"?

Usually there's an announcement on twitter, prior to a patch, so far it's kinda quiet )

 

The proper way to do it is give your character a heroic death story when the universe wipes!

My characters are so much disposable, people could start calling me George R.R. Martin.

 

Guess the new system to reduce wipes is the reason, why there are 5 days without a patch. I'd rather take more wipes

 

Yea, I always have like 5 characters just to explore the different possibilities in the first few sectors so I get good at the starting game and the rest of it is still new once I can make a more "permanent" character!
