The next wipe is going to make me sad

Well, I can sympathize with it, BUT, since it's promised to be the last one It's an awesome opportunity to start building some base on a planet + you can still get all the gear back thru mods, if you wish so.

 

Can I get a link where they confirmed this will be the last wipe? I got the impression they're trying hard to avoid wipes, but can't guarantee there wont be more.

• Reduced Wipes: Working on a system to patch without requiring as many character wipes in the future. This will require one more wipe and that’s it.

 

I make a new character every patch. Keeps it fresh! And by the time I get near the "end" on one character, another update comes out! And my newfound experience and knowledge of the game counter-balances with the new content added, so each playthrough is always fresh, and not too fast!

I also like testing how the game progresses from scratch, each patch.

cant find the link but i remember seeing that there would be an update further down the road that would involve a final wipe (not saying there wont be some before) disposable characters all the way beta is as beta says

While I would like for this to come soon, this doesn't nesscarily mean that this system to avoid future wipes will make it in the next patch, let alone any of the other features listed. I'm not reallyl expecting them to be THAT fast.

Not really sad, but a little sad. I've been deliberately holding back on the construction of anything difficult because of it.

Is there an ETA for the stable release? Would anyone believe them if there was?

Why do people keep throwing the reduced wipes thinking that means the next one will be the last? Simply means they are trying to reduce the need to.....not eliminate...there is a difference.

Honestly, it would surprise me if there wasn't a wipe between the end of beta and release of GM. It would be nice to see preorders getting something extra once the full game comes out, but to allow certain players a several month advantage over others seems excessive. Yea you could mod all that back in if you really wanted to, but I think the effort of doing so should really have to be there rather than just allowing a beta character to go on to the full game.

Hmm, idea.. How about those with beta characters getting to play the offspring of those characters after beta ends? Perhaps knock off a few low level tasks and begin with a better pickaxe and weaponry. Either way, what with who knows what sort of glitches (not that kind) showing up in the beta, you could well see people with massively OP weapons entering GM multiplayer if there's no end of beta wipe.

 

This isn't an MMO, it isn't like we have some huge advantage in PvP ladders. You can always choose to make a new character to play with your friends.

 

Was more in response for the tendency of some people to see that and go zomg no more wipes.

 

So don't play the early beta?
