The Most Cruel Race in Starbound?

There's not that much information about the technology both of the races were using in that war. Florans most likely destroyed the Hylotl with their natural predator skills and large numbers.

In short:

Carnivore > Herbivore

ah just role play sorry then its actually hard to tell whats genuine hate or not on the forums these days also a peaceful planet conquered by a race of blood thirsty warriors of course they took them over. however my vote is still on apex well miniknog apex

 

I voted Floran, because it says "The most Violent/and or Cruel", Floran are the most Violent hands down.
However the most Cruel for me would be either the Apex or the Avians. The Apex for the forced genetic tampering, and highly controlled living conditions. The Avians for their religious practices, ritual suicide, dismemberment, and burring people alive.
Humans and Glitch don't particularly stand out in either Violence or Cruelty when compared to the others, although they are capable of both.
As much as I would like to add Hylotl, they don't seem particularly Violent or Cruel (unless you count insults), and even that bit about steeling children has a fairly reasonable alternate explanation.
If the questionnaire was asking who are the biggest pretentious jerks in Starbound, the Hylotl would be number one no questions, but I don't think they will be stabbing you, throwing you off a tower, or injecting you full of experimental science goo any time soon.

 

They're perfectly fine with being violent xenophobes towards the Florans, dedicating their entire military to (futilely) defeating Florans.

Yes. It's in their armor descriptions actually. Almost all the Hylotl lore comes from item descriptions and the introduction codex materials thus far, though if you get in to the game files you can see more.

As pacifist they never entered any wars so if they made weapons then they've probably would have been built to combat a specific enemy.

The weapon stats are only the same to avoid an op race, in the lore, the Floran weapons are vastly inferior to the other races (exception of those reverse engineered weapons) but make up for their technology by physical power. Unlike the Hylotl they spend they're entire lives hunting and fighting and the codex hints that there where many more Floran than any other race, also all of the advanced anti-Floran weaponry was lost in a freak fire (*McVicars paper).

I wouldn't count Avians because they do all those things because they think they are helping them reach Kluex, in they're mind they're helping them (they may not be cruel but i'm not denying they're completely insane).

Considering the Florans are their only enemy it makes perfect sense. Also unlike the other races, the Hylotl are the only one with one definite military armour set so i wouldn't say they had a very efficient military which makes sense considering they're lore.[/quote]

Pacifists?You still have Warriors,with extremely High-Tech armour,like the Euphos,Disphos for protection from mosters of the Deep, aswell as the Aphotic ones,extremely competent warriors with extremely High-Tech weaponry for self defense,does thout truly believe we did not have casualties?


So,you live in a Ocean,had extremely competent warrior defending you(and since its a Home Planet,its higly populated and as such,most definitely had a huge army defending it),wich was obviously also had electrical traps(proven by the Hylotl search dialogue on the Tesla Spikes) and you all still failed?

There's a very good reason for Floran hatred of Hylotl. The "dark secret" will not remain a secret forever, no matter how hard you artsy frogs want to protect it.

 

Is the "Dark secret" they dont lay back and allow themselves to be stabbed? Joking aside i honestly dont think Florans can KEEP the planet especially if the Hylotl are as evil as you say whos to say they just wont do orbital strikes to get it back spears dont work well against that.

 

You seem to forget how easily Floran steal and incorporate Technology bro,there is an entire armour set dedicated to the scavengers,who kill many a scientist and gather as much random sciency stuff as possible,you just dont quite see that techonlogic advance ingame.

If the Hylotls had any advanced scientific research going on in their homeplanet(high chance),trust me,Greenfinger and the rest of the Florans will have most likely grabed it,reverse engineer it and used it against them,Florans arent as dumb as those Fish like to think,my friend,we arent so.

 

Well it WAS a Floran who put my brain in a glitch while avoiding the urge to eat it i give him credit for that, My honest opinion on them is they have the potential to be among the smartest in the galaxy like the novakids but like the novakids they have their disadvantage that stunts their growth for now, for the Floran that being the primitive need to murder.

 

This is fun to watch. I'm gonna enjoy some mango salsa with blue corn nachos while I watch this racism stuff unfold. But hey, I am learning more of the lore from this thread than even playing the game. LOL.

Trust me,if we werent Tribal/lost most of the violent behaviour,my friend,we would be unstopable.

The armour stats are similar to the weapon stats (The weapon stats are only the same to avoid an op race, in the lore,...)

Euphos are practically baby sitters, Disphos are advanced border patrol, Aphotic is the ultimate exploration armour and as you said they're needed for protection against deep sea monsters, pacifist means they try to avoid fighting if possible but that doesn't mean they wont attack in self defence, it was a war after all.



Actually no-one knows how the war started, its assumed that the Hylotl tried to teach the Florans, they strongly disagreed then invaded because they saw the Hylotl as weak while the Hylotl saw them as savages

Remember Most if not all of the Hylotl advanced weaponry was conveniently destroyed by the 'random' fire, I smell sabotage... You said it yourself the invasion of the homeplanet doesn't make any sense, how could they get troops miles under a salty ocean and then have to get past a tesla defence and the massive oceanic pressure then fight an army, they couldn't have landed troops so what if they destroyed the cities not occupied them, the Florans could have reversed engineered some Apex technology and the fact that Hylotl underestimate their ability to reverse engineer could have been their downfall, its possible that the fire could mean explosive? just food for though but it explains a lot

Then again its the tribal behaviour that makes them so dangerous. Only if the more advanced races (Apex/Avian?) still fight each other.

It seems their ability to reverse engineer is a genetic trait and not intelligence otherwise the entire race/lore contradicts itself, besides that they are currently the most powerful/dangerous race (Humans=rebuilding, Hylotl=rebuilding, Apex=rebellions, Glitch=Infighting, friendly with Florans, Avians=holy wars).

That's where the Agarans come in..

 

Euphos,Disphos and Aphos STILL posses incredibly powerfull weaponry,for despite being babysitters and wariors,they have acess and needed high-Tier weaponry and superior armour,so nah,you had quite a fighting chance when most Florans werent that armoured and paking low tier weapons:catface2:

Greenfinger could simple have joined forces with Big Ape on the destruction of your home planet,but realy,this is mostly speculation after all,we dont even know your "Comander" or further detail of the Glorious event that ensued

Then again,you were never expecting a full on asault,so the element of suprise was efficient.We did come through the surface,otherwise,how could we have destroyes the Spawning grounds?

That "fire" was most likely set up by Greenfinger himself,after stealing your tech,so that you were to think it was simply lost.Nothing too personal mind you,just a tacticl move to asure you trully are "Pacifists",so to speak.

Oh,if we werent Tribal,we would still be as strong in a Physical standpoint,but gain the intelectual advantage of a true society aswell.Have you ever met anything scarier than a smart Floran?
