The Most Cruel Race in Starbound?

The Apex.

Attacking someone out of anger or hatred is at least understandable. But torturing and experimenting on people in some kind of clinical horror is on a completely different level of messed up.

 

i say Apex due to them being intelligent but still causing the pain because of their leader. Big ape and the miniknog are quite cruel but most the people under them seem to only be cruel in order to stay alive.

Also stargazing avians are quite cruel in the name of kluex, but then again there religion requires them to do certain cruel acts. Kluex based on the old lore doc for avians seems to not be cruel interestingly, I don't know if he would approve of things done to honor his name.

Oddly I can seem to come up with reason for most the cruelty committed for the different races.

 

Cruelty isn't necessarily savagery. Florans maybe be savages, but I find most cruelty from advanced races (e.g. Humans, Apex). I voted Humans because I am one and I know of their cruelty.

 

Avian was going to be my second choice

 

It says they're the exception, though. T-rex and velociraptors still carnivores until further notice.

True, that they do.

Now justification technically there programming, the middle ages were a dark time and punishments were harsh. Also their killing of enlightened glitch is just a panicked response to the "magic" of tech beyond their understanding.

The bunny statues were proven to be sarcophagus's upon closer examination of game files. The file for the bunny statue contains racial descriptions of the statue. Every race would comment that they hear someone inside the statue.

The Avian act of lathering blood on shoulders was mentioned in the May's Newsletter Horoscope.

 

If this were based on cruelty alone, apex without a doubt. They are the embodiment of one of humanity's darkest moments of history I'd say 'The' darkest point in our history. The glitch are just plain nightmare fuel, I mean having your personality rewritten entirely. Florans are sadistic but unlike the apex they don't enslave their own kind. Florans have quite a bit of freedom in their own race from what I've seen, far more than most the other races(slave civilians, brainwashing, ritualistic sacrificing).

Talking about the Apex.

The Apex community is, according to Lore, heavily controlled by Big Ape. Their violence is characterized by the influence of their government. The Miniknog intentionally destroyed records of the Apex's past history in order to seize control of the modern society and to evade the present generation from knowing about their ancestor's freedom. The Miniknog also controls the technological progression of the Apex society in order to prevent them from creating anything that would deny the Big Ape's power. There are rebels however, who deny the Big Ape and Miniknog and support the idea of free will.

At least that's what I think is going on in their world.
