The Most Cruel Race in Starbound?

Well, the question is pretty straight on: which one of the main six Starbound races in the most cruel and/or violent towards others.

Most will instantly start pointing their fingers at Florans. Everybody knows Florans as aggressive carnivorous humanoid plants. They are especially known for the Floran-Hylotl war which resulted in Hylotl being driven out from their home planet. I agree with the fact that at this point Florans can be called the super-meanies who don't like anyone. But if you think deeper, you'll figure out that its a natural instinct of a predator. Florans became sentient beings, but at the same time they kept the character of a predator animal, which explains their aggressive behavior. I am not saying that Florans are nothing to blame for and should be forgiven, no-no-no.
I am trying bring up the fact that their conqueror acts are not motivated.

The ones who everyone should stay away from are those religion-crazy birds. They want nothing but new victims to sacrifice for hopes of magically gaining wings! They hunt down humans and place them into weird bunny-shaped sarcophagus's until they die of famine. They consider the Hylotl a mere fish which is only useful for being cut up on a stone table. And after finishing their hard day of slaughter they mop up their victims' blood and wash their shoulders in it in hopes of "growing wings and joining with the Aether". They didn't achieve anything but slaughter a whole bunch of folk. Their technological achievements are nothing but copies of junk they found lying on the road.

Express your own opinion if you do not agree. The reason I'm writing this is because I've seen a lot of people talk about how mean the Florans are and completely ignore the violent and brainless birds.

Floran= Murder, eat, steal technology, ETC...

Avian (Stargazers)=Religious zealots that kill in the name of their god and sacrifice anyone who speaks against Kluex

Apex (Miniknog)=Totalitarian rule that suppresses free will and capture and torture anyone who speaks out

Glitch (Hivemind)=captures self aware Glitches and destroys them, then rebuilds them again as slaves to their programming

Human (USCM)=Tortures criminals and kills anyone unfortunate enough to enter their facilities

Hylotl=Insult less advanced cultures

I see what you're getting at, OP, but I still have to go with the walking weeds that will use "stab" as a stand-in for any other word.

The (non-Grounded) Avians may be vicious, but at least they have a rationale for their violence, as tenuous as it may be. The Florans are just instinctive a**holes.

 

Florans by theselves arent realy bad,per se.

They hunt alot,they like fighting,yes,but they arent purposefully dicks to anyone.

The Hylotl conflict itself was created by both factions,with the Hylotls aparently also using some nasty weapons(like sea water,verry cruel method of kiling a plant),plus they kidnap spawn from other species!(codex entries suport this,they are within the game code)

Humans?Obvious dicks

Apex?Totalitarians,but not dicks,cruel within the experimentation and mutilation of their own kind,but not dicks.

Avians?Sorta dicks when it comes to kluex,but not realy cruel r anything,they are mostly evrry freindly,even(sometimes a bit too much)

Glitch arent realy dicks,they only disasemble the outcasts due to orders from the hivemeind they themselves cant disobey,other than that,friendly enough.

 

Tie between Floran and Humanity. Floran because they are represented as savage, wild and agressive... humans because they are us, and a good chunk (probaly not just a good chunk) of us are driven by war, envy, wrath, greed and egoism... If thats getting translated to starbound propper at some point it will be humanity clearly, we extinct everything in our path, just like Florans would. But we make sure nothing will regrow if it hasnt a use for it...
I really hope humans get a more darker image, but well... torturing criminals, exciling them forever and using bio and chemical weapons against other species (and probaly their own kind)... you know that report on using an agent orange like chemical against florans... failed and they just got drunk instead. But the try is what counts <.<

 

Where did you guys get all this Avian lore about trapping humans in those bunny statues and lathering blood on their shoulders to get wings? I think I really need to get caught up on the lore...

 

I remember the opening video for the Humans, referring to Earth as a center as peace and enlightment. Not sure how far that holds up to rest of humanity in Starbound, but it'd be nice if humans were in general not complete jerks this time around.

Floran not cruel, floran stab. Big words more stab. Stab use big words! Must stab!
Hyloyl are cruel. Hylotyl no know correct way to stab. Give slow death to prey. Very cruel death. Floran kill swift. No suffering.

On side note, your grammar is atrocious. It should say "The Cruelest Race in Starbound."

The fact that a floran is commenting on grammar just made my day about 100% better

 

Florans definitely, imo. But that's why I love the cannibalistic little vegetables.

 

Floransss are not cruel, floransss just like ssstabs. Meatbagsss are good for ssstabs. Floransss no hate the meatbagsss. Floransss just love ssstabs more then meatbagsss.

Novakids are the worst. I once dated a novakid girl, I waited hours for her at a fancy restaurant only to find out she forgot about our date... and that we were dating. Florans may stab you in the heart but a novakid dame will break it.

 

You can try to rationalize it all you want, but at the end of the day, Florans are as violent and cruel as Tyrannosaurus are carnivorous.
