I have 2 issues with my side, Music fades in combat and is stuck like that until I restart my game. The 2nd issue is that there is no underground background. Just letting you know. So far it looks great.
Instruments take both hands, & in some cases, one's mouth & lungs to operate. How would one go about operating a Instrument with both hands & eating at the same time, let alone how would one go about operating a wind instrument with both hands, supplying your breath to the instrument, & eating at the same time, especially without accidentally breathing your eaten food into your windpipe & literally choking on your food? I think under the new Balance, the MM is supposed to be the MVP of your digging & tree chopping power & stuff like Picks are now non-repairable & break upon durability exhaustion so I think picks, axes, & such are supposed to be treated kinda like a temporary power-up till ya get far enough in the game that your MM gets strong enough to where ya never again need anything else but the MM for your needs. IMHO, no complaints here on this. (Infinite Durability viable digging power WOOT!!! *Dances with joy*) Problems with Underground Background Display are already known. The Dev's Blog that Links to this Thread does say something about it. Thank goodness. I tried going to the deepest part of the Abandoned Mineshaft, digging diagonal down-right from it, & found cave systems & finding adequate of both Copper & Iron Ore, & even a bit of more advanced ore. It took a fierce amount of exploring, but I even found enough Silver eventually to get the MM Upgrade for being able to harvest Liquids! When I got to the lowest point of these caves & found no more caves naturally pathing any deeper, I had to do another shaft digging again for a bit till I found more caves, then only had to explore this new cave system a bit to find Lava (Hell yeah I harvested some while I could!) & the Core Fragments. I strongly suspect the possibility that the Devs directly want us to explore the Starter Planet in this kinda way on purpose, but I can't be fully sure on this. Anyway, once I grab all the remaining easy pickings coal from the Surface, i'll depart my Starter Planet. Oh, also, I forgot to mention last Post that ever since this new Unstable Update, my Steam Overlay has been completely inoperable. I have it bound to NumPad - & it worked fine all these last months before, but now not anymore after this new Unstable Update. Please fix Devs... I don't wanna have no choice but to have to give up Fullscreen play to be able to Steam Chat with pals in-game.
@Axe Garian On point 3, where you mention eventually MM will completely take over; that is not fully possible. Reason I say this is due to the liquid collecting/pour mechanic the MM has. In a building project that involves water you will need to have other tools just so you don't accidentally suck up the liquid you are working with. Sure place the liquid afterwards, but some like to build within the liquid itself without having to worry about sucking it dry before finishing. Non builders probably don't have to worry much about it. Still it is a decent example for even making picks in the late game. That would be the only thing stopping it from being the Ultimate device to be used. At least in my case, as I am a builder.
So, the unstable update won't install. My computer keeps telling me there's a trojan in it :L what do?
Actually sounds more like Diablo 2's Gamble merchant, which shows you the general item name/type/picture and Gold cost but doesn't show you any stats. It'd be a cool mechanic to have, but it's probably a bug at this time. Loving Starbound so far. Not getting very far, but at least I'm doing a lot more then "fly to planet, explore, kill things, loot, destroy Glitch castle" then I did months ago on the Stable version. One thing though; I got the quest to investigate the Erchius Mine, made the Steel Armour, got the cor-ordinates and the O2 Tech. I left the pc to go do something, came back, forgot to activate the tech, and found that I could breathe the oxygen on/in the mine. Don't know if it had been overlooked, but yeah. Strange I thought. Also you will lose any ore you drop upon death in the Mines. So, store those Ores/Bars first!
I am using avast and it didn't do that to me, then again when I first got avast, it kept telling the Skyrim Script Extender was malware and wouldn't let me keep it installed. Also, how do I get charcoal In this unstable version? I can't smelt logs in the furnace anymore I need torches.
Yeah, your techs are history. They switched how they did techs, so i don't think they'll be transferrable.
I think you have played it on normal difficulty. I died there and lost nothing. As for the gamble merchant, it does sound like it, but then in the current unstable build you only have a type of item and the cost. Name/picture/stats are entirely random. In fact I just found out that quests that rewards weapons also have that randomness. In fact, when you open your Quests menu and check out said quest, the reward picture keeps changing rapidly.
Heh, I probably should have mentioned I play on Normal. The fact that all of my Ores went was enough for me to stop playing for the day. That, and mistiming a jump near the end and *SPLAT*. I've only been so far as past the Mining Base a few nightly builds ago, so not really far, but far enough to see a Quest with a random-gen weapon. I may need to invest at least a day and a half into playing, find out whats past The Mining Base.
I have a question; will the progress from Unstable be kept going on to Stable or will it be wiped because some things weren't in place yet?
<Tiy> if you dont wipe yourself, youre missing SO much In other words, even if there's no structural changes to force it, you'll want to wipe your progress anyway.
I think he's asking if he can use he's character that he's already restarted and is using on unstable... in the stable. My guess would be yes, but I'm no genius so I don't know.
Can I just say how awesome of an idea it was to make the Matter Manipulator the de facto mining tool of choice? There's a ton of things going for it that no other tool has. - range: You can mine stuff further away without needing to stack soil in order to reach it. - Size: Eventually you can upgrade it to affect a larger area. Larger than any other tool if I recall correctly. and last but not least - highlight: That thing highlights the point where you want to mine. You have no idea how useful this has become to me. For the range of the MM, you can basically see what's beyond the wall, even if just a small 2x2 area, making the tool a sort of short-range radar as well. So now I don't have to mine entirely blind. And it's range goes further than the flashlight or torches. I caught resources that I would've missed otherwise, just by stopping and skimming the mouse around with the MM equipped every now and again. This for me is the best features of this build so far. -edit- I found a piece of the alpaca suit!!!
