The monsters are too strong.

I'm wearing the knight set on my glitch guy and exploring a beta world, looking for iron for some more steel. I find a "miniboss" monster (the ones with the red stuff that comes off of them) and it kills me in one hit. This does not seem right. I'm vastly overpowered for the area, and I get killed in one shot? How is an on-level player expected to deal with these? I realize that they drop good loot (usually), but this just seems wrong. Thoughts?

Sounds like you've had a the bad luck to have a strong monster spawn as a miniboss. A properly leveled character would either avoid it (a perfectly acceptable choice of action), or they'd find a way to destroy it such as trapping it inside dirt/etc. Good luck!

How about when a standard flying enemy on a gamma world did some gas attack for 170 damage through knight armor and an underground monster who did 160 + knockback/fall for death.

    Monsters too stronk.

Was this before they patched the game to deal with flying enemies and ranged attacks being unbalanced?

In total the Monsters aren't too strong. Maybe some of them are nastier than the others, but not too strong. The gas attack works like a shotgun. 3 clouds, every cloud does damage. If you get hit by all 3 that's game over, yep. But it is really SHORT ranged.

Think it's just bad luck. I've fought several mini-bosses on both Alpha and Beta, and none were that strong. One was pretty stupid, though ;)

It sounds like you never started a new character after the monster damages were fixed.

I still think they do too much damage. Like everything kills you soo quickly. And it's so boring and tedious to heal back up after each fight... We need more healing items ! Seriously !

I'd like to see the monsters have more health and do less damage to even things out

It is a mini boss... Kinda supposed to be strong. Some seem to be a bit out of anyones league though

Since the balance patch I've only experienced one-shots from ground boss monsters, so I tend to just tower up and shoot them to death. Monsters are just differently balanced in that they have high damage but low health and armor compared to NPCs who only do like 10-20 damage to me a hit but take twice or three times as many hits to die. It does make them feel cheap, though, since they're like suicide soldiers or something like that. They come barreling at you with no regard to their survival just to get that one strong hit off before you kill them in one or two hits.

A T2 mini-boss is 1-shotting you in T3 racial armor? Did I hear that right, you're in TITANIUM armor? That does seem like a bit of a problem considering anything that monster drops will be worthless for your level. I would avoid that guy. I've never had anything like this happen and I've fought half a dozen mini-bosses equal in tier to my gear. The few I've fought 1 tier below me are always a cake walk.

Actually, armor isn't the biggest thing in the game, having a really good shield with a good bow can defeats most any monster!

ähem mayby you should start a new char like the devs said. for me its nowhere near what u are describing. what you are describing is the state the game was in without update. i just started a new char yesterday and on my first planet even those guards in the umsc prison have been a joke....

before those guys with the guns killed me with 2 hits.. now they do 1-3 dmg

The whole reason they say make a new character is that changes don't take affect until you do....

I've never had a problem with the minibosses, nor have I had anything one-shot me since the latest rebalance.

They one shot kill me too.
I think I will just carry bombs with me at all times from now on.

Fight OP enemies with OP weapons.

Since the last update my new character had a great time on his starting planet. Went to another planet same level, with race armor on, and got roflstomped by one particular monster type. There's still some balance that needs to be done but they are on the right track in this category.
