Hey guys this is my first post on here, hi . I only found out about this contest on Monday and I had to enter as I'm extremely excited about this game. So here is my idea: THE MONSTER CAVE. This monster is actually embedded into the terrain and poses as an interesting cave that harbors all sorts of possibilities. This is my rendition of the beast when it is blended into the terrain: Once an avid explorer has entered into the "cave" enough, the monster springs to life and a mighty battle ensues. Here is the monster in it's fearsome state: The player can damage the eyes which will eventually cause them to close at which point the monster cannot use it's tongues to capture the player. While the eyes are closed the mouth is vulnerable to any weapon. Enough damage dealt to the mouth will kill the monster. An alternative strategy is for the player to allowed to be captured by the tongues, at which point the monster will start to bring the player towards it's mouth. At this point the player needs to either destroy the monster by firing into it's mouth, or by damaging the eyes until they are closed causing the monster to drop the player. If the player has a grappling hook or something similar (I'm assuming grappling hooks will be in the game as grappling hooks are awesome and should be in every game) they can hook themselves to the wall to slow down the rate that the monster pulls the player into the mouth. If the player fails to deal enough damage by the time they reach the mouth, they will be swallowed whole. Also hitting the teeth that covers the cave opening will also deal damage to the player. Once the Monster Cave has been killed, the player can cut through the "flesh" (for lack of a better word) into it's stomach to check out all the loot it has swallowed from previous encounters. I wish all the other entries good luck and hope to spend some time chatting to you folks about this exciting game.
This would make an interesting boss like creature-- like some other entries, I'd be scared to go underground! (but I must dig. For I am a Badger. And I love to dig. Dig, dig, dig) The stomach loot room sounds like a really fun goal as well and good incentive to fight these things
Cheers, that thought actually popped into my head last night after I posted it, my brain hadn't made the connection before that. Yeah it could serve as a boss or at least something that you have to prepare for. I do like the idea of people accidentally stumbling upon it and suffering the consequences.
This could make a whole mutated biome with some master mind boss deep inside that collectively rules the whole biome. Once killed the whole biome would slowly start to die.
