Hello everyone, sorry about the GoT reference for the title of my thread. My name is Atticus, most of the time I go by Attie or Hato. I am bi-gender so any pronouns you wish to use to identify me will do just fine. I do quite a bit of gaming; from PC to Xbox. I am experienced in the ways of the build (minecraft, Starbound, Terraria and the like.) I am a medieval sort of person who sticks toward castles, citadels, wizard towers, etc. If you see me building in a game I do massive builds that take days, if not weeks. I do my work quickly and efficiently so that I finish as early as possible, but I never leave out detail. If you see me working on the detail of a piece of work then you can be assured that it will look the best I can make it look with my current abilities. My current objective in Starbound is to build a "base world" that I can use as my main facility for when I play with all my friends. I plan on covering the entire surface with a massive 'high-tech' city. There will be many buildings that they'll get to customize to their personal preferences. However, I need the materials to build said city and I need to be able to find them. I prefer to do everything in a legitimate setting, as opposed to cheating everything in with console commands.

Welcome to the forums, Atticus. I'm pleased to hear that you're an avid and intricate sort of builder. I did something quite like what you're doing now, waaayy back before the game was rewiped, and I never got to save it! Although, I hope that may take some screenshots of your builds and share them. I'm sure everyone could be inspired by quality architecture!

 

Welcome! I like my building legit as well, but some items (mostly Hylotl stuff, but also some Outpost items) are not obtainable without cheating, I will then cheat them in once to scan them and then reproduce them using pixels... But I am waiting for Hylotl citys impaciently anyways.

a grand welcome to a fellow architect. bi-gender aye? normally when i approach someone like this i use their proper name, and avoid all use of pronouns whenever possible.

normally i like building legitimately. but sometimes it seems building with non-legitimately made items is necessary for survival. (dammed cheat players)

Thanks everyone. I'll be sure to keep screenshots in mind when I'm building and hopefully I can get some nice ones for you all to see. I just hope I can bring my building style to life in Starbound. As I said, I'll be building with legit materials, but I might need your all's help from time to time in locating places so you'll mostly see me in the coordinates megathread. Thanks for being so considerate of me, it's hard to find forums like this anymore. Too many inconsiderate people out there.

Well it's good to meet all of you. ^^ Myifee, pronouns are incredibly last century and far beyond importance in this age, you know?

 

Duuude, building a city using only gathered materials? You got great ambitions, lass. Don't limit yourself if you don't have to, thou. Let your creativity out if you can and have the possibility of doing so.
Find the balance between "cheating" the materials, and gathering.
My advice you could consider: If you find it yourself first, you can cheat it infinitely then. If you really need it and can't find any more, of course.

Thank you. ^^ The majority of my builds are from gathered materials. If you saw my first Starbound build and how I used the materials from 2 structures to make one massive, well guarded base then you'd understand why I want my entire base planet to be that way. ^^;; I'm a seriously dedicated builder and when I set my mind to it I usually start off at a slow pace and end with a huge finale of effort to place my last details. haha Believe me, when I'm done I'll have gathered enough materials to at least cover half the planet. haha Even if I don't meet my overall goal, it's the effort put forth that makes it worth doing. ^^;; I have cheated materials in for builds before and the feeling isn't as great as if I were to build legitimately. The rush of having found all the materials and gathered them for the sake of making something utterly amazing is what I live for when it comes to starbound.

 

Just your choice You caught my curiosity, and I actually hope to see your city soon! If I may. Well.. "soon" Take your time.
