To make it more of a shock, you could discover that the destruction of your planet was just self defense, because your people secretely enslaved, killed or betrayed other intergalactic nations.
Or maybe the destruction was just a hoax, to blame another specific nation for the case, while your people left the planet in safety before blowing their own home up, to have a reason to declare war later from the underground.
Or you discover that the planet you lived on was actually just a cloned copy of another original planet, that did experiments with you and the other inhabitants, maybe like in "The Island" where they're used to donate organs for the original beings.

 

The main antagonist's name is Sorron Kcuhc, he is a man who is forced to leave his world after it was taken over by aliens. After being teached by his master, Eel Ecurb, he goes into a space army. Soon after his ship is destroyed, he gets stranded on a planet and must survive with what there is, until he can leave again. It is up to him to help protect the creatures of the universe, defeat the beasts that the galaxy holds, and to use his new arts of martialness to save everyone! Some think his weakness is saying his name backwards... perhaps.

 

Hes also just mad because his last name sounds somewhat like cock so he went to some court on your home planet to change it, they laughed so he blew it up. Yeah sounds good

The Penguin Emporer started creating Mega Penguins Via the Means of cloning you and a Giant Penguin Hybrid, he has all the same Items and Stats as you, but is a very skilled fighter.

I agree withsome people. the penguins will destory us all! Run away! The next thing you know they will be building a death star and will be blowing up worlds

 

Who the antagonist will be will likely depend on how serious/cheesy the rest of the game is. I suppose at this point whatever they do will not come as a surprise as everything from the evil empire to the stupidly destructive warrior race out for our planet's minerals has been done before. In that case, I just hope that whoever the bad guy is, they're reasonably well written and not hamfistedly portrayed like Mantel Corp from Haze or the North Koreans from Homefront. That they have a motivation other then to be a soap box for the writer's views on PMCs or "Dem commies."
