The little things that irk me in Starbound?
    • Not being able to speed up time when in bed
    • Not being able to delete characters
    • High pixel costs on the armor
    • HUD lacking meters for food and temperature

    • All the guns are waste. I have yet to see a single competent gun and I'm in the third sector.
    • Threat rate 20+ snow maps are impossible to properly do without cold gear, even if you're inside a building which should be incredibly well insulated compared to standing outside in the freezing wind with 5 torches. I thought there would be a heating/electricity system for buildings but it must not be finished yet. Oddly enough going into water warms more than campfires.
    • Killing an enemy turns whatever weapon their holding into a rusted spear/axe. You get almost nothing for killing things and you get barely anything from chests at the end of a massive dungeon, sometimes not even chests.
    • You can get endgame gear by trapping the bosses, whittling them down, and going to the highest level planet in the sector and just running and dodging until you find a good level 20 weapon. It'll almost always one hit kill everything but boss mobs and summon bosses
    • I feel even with random enemies there isn't much variation. Most are ugly four legged things with body slam and horse sounds.
    • I can fall 10 feet but be just fine, and then explode on impact at 11 feet. I can also swim around in the magma from the planet's core.
    • Every moon's core is molten.

I particularly dislike the Moons having a molten core. Would be awesome if you could dig all the way to the other side... lol

Considering how easy it is to die why can I not stash pixels in my ship? Also: EXPLAIN SHIT! I died by freezing 4 times & the only reason I didn't die a 5th time was because I happened to notice my character's breath right before blackout. Also-also, why do robot need to eat meat?

You know i read all of the complaints here in this thread. some are legitimate like the difficulty curve. it's not so much a curve as it is a wall. i'll give you that but this game is in DEVELOPMENT stages gents. things like this take time to get better.. i'm not expecting miracles day 1 from this game. but i have enjoyed it up to this point (albeit dying a lot is frustrating). but we need to provide positive feedback and not just bash the game into oblivion because it's not what we wanted immediately. i bet once this game is done it will shine but until then we just need to keep pressing forward and help the devs with issues that can be fixed and not pissing and moaning about it. POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT guys, not negative.

While there is plenty of whining on this thread there has also been some criticism, which is good for everything. I think one of the most important things to do is to at least bring issues to light rather than suppressing it.

Most of what I have to say has already been said, though they tend to be mixed in with points I disagree with. The biggest problem though is simply the difficulty wall players face when they start off. The player can determine the difficulty of their game from every point after the start, why not the beginning too?

I don't know if it's a bug but when I go down a platform I pass like four other platforms on the way down! I'm okay with pressing down + space four times if it means I don't fall through platforms into lava or get falling damage!

Tip: You can use Middle-mousebutton (Mousebutton 3) instead of E when interacting with objects.

In a gunfight against NPCs, I found the best strategy is to jump alot. And just jump in, swing and jump out. occationally run away into hiding for safe healing. It's really fun combat!

You'll have to quick-tap it. Requires some getting used to.

It's probably because it's not necessary until it's urgent, but I'd like to be able to hit a button and see my hunger. Also, if there are other "needs" (such as warmth, sleep, water, etc), I'd like to be able to see them. This could be useful depending on your character.
Take, for example, that you chose an Avian. They don't need to eat much at a time, but they do need to eat regularly. Their plumage would keep the cold out for longer, and generally, when the sun goes down, they'd need to sleep more than other characters. On the other Hand, a glitch mightn't need much food at all, but can't get too cold, as it gets amplified by their metal bodies, and cause their movements to be slowed.

Also, a button to actually pause the game (in single player) would be nice.

Since I was "level 10" (I.E. wearing equipment that was considered top end,) not once have I been able to take a hit from an enemy without dying. The armor tier progression in this game is beyond ridiculous. I've got a level 41 sword at the moment that kills anything I need it to, but if I so much as get scratched I'm dead even on level 32 planets with the Knight's set. (25 total defense) The game can be decently fun, but it just takes all the enjoyment out of it when I'm just trying to scout for Aegisalt and I can't even get brushed as I'm looking or digging.

Apparently the wiring tool is a tier 3 item that requires titanium, of which I have yet to find any of, despite being able to go to gamma sector planets.

Well, irks... too many to list, but the biggest issues that I can think of off the bat:
    • Not sure if disabled for early testing, but far too few mini-biomes; lots of variety overall, hardly any within a single planet.
    • No incentive to dig any deeper really, as ore distribution seems pretty homogenous and it's really slow to get anywhere. Only saving grace is sand or gravel pits that are really easy to strip mine.
    • Save for gold and such, for which you either have to dig really deep to even find a couple bits of ore at a time. Rather just simply find a dungeon and loot all the chests, which is much faster and is how I got most of my gold and even 10 diamonds.
    • Dungeons for loot, unless you keep getting one-shot by some sniper thanks to leaving a hole in the wall you're building for safety between you and your target. Which leads me to...
    • Combat? What combat?!? At the point where you have full steel armor and require titanium to proceed, you'll be trapping monsters in sand and whittling them away safely, instead of engaging in any meaningful kind of duels or melee.
    • Being unable to tell between hostile targets and non-hostile ones, let alone their various attacks. Gotten killed far too many times trying to figure this out and getting lightning bolted in the face.
    • Dying monsters still finish their attack sequence. Been knocked off too many cliffs by charge or slam from a dying monster that landed on me while flashing.
    • No doubt still problems with dungeon tile protection implementation, but I miss it already.
    • Materials become inconsequential really quickly as soon as you start speedmining with a gold pickaxe or better...
    • ... a pickaxe that is powerful enough to instantly destroy any platform tiles, gee thanks.
    • Fall damage indeed, especially with Gravity Bubble tech, for which you have to land feather soft from even just a couple blocks of height to be safe from being damaged.
    • Did I mention gravity bubble? I meant infinite flight engine... needs a nerf, though I do kind of like it.
    • Can't use more than one tech at a time, even if they're activated in different ways. Could be in different categories that can be used together, as long as they don't conflict with each other; e.g. I have Morphball that is activated with the F-key and the bubble that is activated by space bar while jumping, why do I have to choose?
    • Hard I can deal with, but surprise plasma bolt in the face from the darkness by someone with a sniper rifle sucks.
    • Many other quibbles have already been listed, I suppose.

Scenery and music only takes you so far... As nice as it is, I'm already running into a lot of samey planets.

And what's with the over-exaggerating? No-one is saying that we want everything in half an hour. I think after 9 hours though, I should have a bit more to show for it. The game does need a less rough early game and introduction. They are shooting themselves in the foot big-time if they don't tweak it so it's a more gradual difficulty curve.

You say it's about exploration and beauty... but the game plays more like a masochist game at this stage -- which is kind of a contradiction. That's best left for games like Spelunky and Super Meat Boy. No-one is asking for a cake-walk, just a better difficulty curve to ease players into the game more.

But yes, beta is beta. I'm sure the developers are very aware of this already :)

    A few more...
    • The inventory and crafting screens keep resetting their location right on top of the character after a while.
    • Many of the materials aren't marked as such. It's really hard to tell what is useful and what is not. Tooltips are really insufficient for most of the items in other regards too.
    • The icons for a tomato and its seed could be switched. How many times I wanted to eat a tomato, only to have selected the seed.
    • Dyes! They do nothing!
    • No way to tell time + Dusk and dawn are too sudden.
    • I thought gravity would've been different on each planet, especially moons?
    • Too few moons compared to other kinds of planets.
    • Increase in armor is unintuitive and there's no way to tell how fast your energy regenerates thanks to gear bonuses.
    • Randomly generated items tend to be crap; either they're too slow, or they're too fast. Whichever it is, damage suffers and crafted items are the only way to go.
    • Big one: Steel hunting bow is lvl 10 compared to other steel items being 15? Horribly insufficient for hunting anything other than low level monsters and there doesn't seem to be anything to bridge the gap.
    • Mining 9 blocks is as fast as mining just that one block with shift on, why not give it a bonus?
    • Range of mining tools and the axe etc. is a bit inconsistent, as it could or rather should focus mining or cutting on the block you're hovering over and whatever is around it, instead of where you're pointing. It's pretty annoying to try and slowly cut a vine from its root, only to have it cut one block down.
