The little things that "urk" you...

    "Sci-fi" isn't synonymous to "Futuristic".
    Jurassic Park is a sci-fi movie/book. Sci-fi is any form of fiction based on unexplored/fictional science and pseudoscience.

    There really needs to be some balancing with armor and mob levels, and the availability of armors. First tier is fine, if you go beyond your armor capacity you get messed up pretty quickly, as it should. First tier boss is level 10 and you can craft level 10 armor at this time, making the boss an acceptable fight (given you've found ranged weaponry closer to his level). However tier 2 and beyond things get quite messed up. After the first boss you can craft level 15 armor which is barely useful up to 15, and definitely not useful much after, especially not for the tier 2 boss (which I think was 20 and 2 shots you). We should have access to level 20 armor BEFORE we reach tier 2 boss, yet the armor available AFTER a level 20 boss are....level 13 for platinum, and 1 more set which I don't remember the level, but you need titanium for that and that's probably found on planets over 20.

    And this is ignoring the 1 shots at or near armor level. Enemies with guns are quite overpowered right now, forcing you to use alternative methods to clear out some places, and that's quite boring/frustrating.

    Guns don't use ammo though, they use energy which is replenished over time from my understanding. So you'd be carrying around twenty of the game gun for no reason, especially given that selling items hasn't been implemented yet. On the same note, taking out any form of village or dungeon would yield an insane amount of loot from NPCs alone, not counting everything found in containers.
    NPCs dropping their equipment 100% of the time would be broken as hell and I would hate to see it happen.

    I'm pretty sure the phrase thing is just something for them to have fun while it's still in early beta with so many fixes going on at once. I'm sure during phase 2+ you'll see the traditional v 1.0.0 typing that's more recognizable.

    Ammo has nothing to do with it, after clearing out a dungeon you have 20 melee weapons in your inventory even when 50% of those weilded guns. You should at least have some chance of getting weapons from them, he's not asking for 100% droprates here.

    I couldn't have said this better myself.
    Starbound is an exploration game, with beautiful scenery and music. It will be even better upon full release. Suggestions like "make it easier" and "give me everything in half an hour" make me groan.

    • Platinum and diamond seem impossible to find by digging
    • That you can only beam to one place on each planet
    • Even though the monsters are supposed to all look different from each other i've seen the same monsters on many planets
    • The difficulty is too high as you start. Difficulty should increase as you go, and peak at about 85-90% into the game, at which point you start getting epic lewts
    • I also miss weapons or armor-drops from the tier-bosses
    • The FPS-drop when you enter a place with NPC's
    • The sudden end on the starting quest-line
    • The lack of good weapons (I'm usually on Beta-planets and have been on Gamma-planets too)
    That said: I'm enjoying myself very much despite these "irks" and i know that beta is beta, and most of these things will be fixed or done something with before release. :)

    The fact that you can only use 1 tech. I don't know if it's like that for beta purposes, but only the first tech-slot works.

    He kind of is, though. For it to be "realistic" like people are wanting, it would have to be a 100% drop rate.
    I'm not saying that there should be no drops from NPCs at all, but a high drop rate would break the game. There has to be a happy medium.

    And ammo was mentioned in the post that I quoted and was implied that you would pick it up from fallen guns.

    Open the files with wordpad and find out which files goes to which character. Then delete them and see if that changes it. I think it should work.

    Confirmation: (Blame Bartwe if it doesn't work :D)

    Seems like a temporary fix though. I hope in game deletion will be added in later.

    Most certainly it will be implemented later on. And this ain't no temporary fix, if you delete those files, your character is gone forevaaaaaaaar.

    Hmmm....my irks, or urks or however its spelled :rofl:...are minor at this point with the update incoming. But definitely
    1) I would like to be able to remap my keys (Unless Im blind and just cant find it)
    2) Would like to have the option of keeping ALL the meters on my screen all the time (Without having to jam a paperclip in my keyboard to keep the Alt key depressed).

    Its all I got right now, they covered all my other irks....er urks er whatever with the patch....jeez...guess were all going to have to find something new to complain about.

    • enemies with multiple elemental attacks
    • we need a teleportation beacon to change our spawn point

    I love the game in all of it so far, minus what is now being fixed- But i personally really don't think the tier 1 boss needs a buff.

    I complete the tutorial after exploring for hours on end for the materials needed for my distress beacon. Unfortunately, the moment i placed it and got ready with some copper gear and an iron bow- The distress beacon killed itself, meaning that if i don't kill this boss, i'll have to redo all of that 8 hour exploration for the mats. That is my first issue. Why should i be punished for beginning the first boss fight? And the worst part is..

    Well, i unfortnately was not powerful enough to take on the boss, and he spawncamped me by constantly smashing my spawn point. If he had the ability to break blocks, he would have razed my entire house and everything i had achieved in the game at all.
    I could not proceed without cheesing my way around with dirt blocks. I actually ran out of dirt blocks after a while, and led the spaceship away from my house- And fought it carefully. It was going well with my iron bow, but unfortunately, a penguin soldier got the jump on me, and so i died. When i came back, i found my home riddled with penguins, and the spaceship had despawned.

    DESPAWNED.
    All of my pixels i grinded for, gone- so many deaths.
    All of that time- wasted.
    Not even a second go. Nope, back to the mines with slow mining-copper-pick for me.
    And at that, i said "Hell no".

    Before anyone comes and says it's about exploration, i can only stand the same 10 forest tiles and a trader to murder every 8 times with the same planet monsters all over.
    I don't WANT to dislike it, and it's only a beta- But i really do think it's a bit..hard. Not saying that difficult is a bad thing, because that can really make a game if done well- But i think lagging from beaming down
    and then getting one shot by a bouncing penguin lazer-ship is a little on the cheap side.

    Enemies with guns on tier 2 planets. Knockback + infinite bullet spam (if they just don't outright one shot you) isn't very fun. If it wasn't for the ability to attack through doors, you'd never be able to kill them.

    What irks me is when I block a shot from a gun totting douche bag with my shield, I STILL fly half way across the map, so hey, I'm not getting one shot but there's no way in hell I'm getting anywhere near the bugger to kill him and stop the storm of bullets.

    The same thing happened to me, which would honestly be my only complaint. Ore distribution is too sparse compared to how much it takes to make things.
    But you really should have silver armor before having a go at the UFO.

    Was just wondering what fix you mentioned about, I bought Starbound for my Little bro, but he is having the fps problem and can't play at all.
