[Possible Names: Vorex, Gobbler, Muncher, Glutton, Chompy]

It is a small fleshy creature that is about the size of a watermelon but looks like a pea with arms. It spends most of its day wobbling about aimlessly, curiously observing everything in its habitat. However, once it is provoked or gets hungry this little critter goes through a horrific transformation. Its eyes buldge out, its limbs extend, and it reveals its ravenous mouth. And then it starts eating. And eating. This creature can and will eat anything and everything it sees. Meat, fruit, plant... it will even start scarfing down the dirt and stone in the ground to sate its appetite. Not even metal is inedible to this green menace! Careful not to drop any equipment in it's sights or it will gobble that down too. If you do lose something valuable to the belly of the beast you will only have a few minutes to kill it and retrieve your equipment before it is digested.

Its arms are too scrawny to throw a punch, but its teeth can bite clean through metal with ease. (OPTIONAL-Not bound to just close combat, it can also expel it's highly corrosive gastric acid at it's enemies from its mouth, though this can only reach a few feet ahead.)

Once it has been captured and tamed, zoologists have discovered that it can be trained to store items in its belly without digesting them, acting as a living, moving inventory. With further training, it can also be capable of selectively digesting individual items without doing harm to anything else it may be storing. Once digested, its hypermetabolism will instantly process the digested item and allow it to regain health as well as gain a small power buff for a short time.

(OPTIONAL- Perhaps in rare instances the creature may enter a phase where it will grow as it consumes matter, potentially reaching the heights of a large building or above once it devours enough. At this increased hieght it may be able to eat multiple blocks at once/per bite (I envisioned that the original sized version can only eat one block at a time) as well as possibly being able to gobble up NPCs and other creatures whole (which can be saved once the giant beast has been slain). [This idea was contributed by thefluvirus, who also came up with the tamed version regaining health and perhaps a buff once it digests an item it is storing])

And that is my entry! I wanted to create a fairly regular creature that could fit well into how the game is played, so a creature that could take up items and blocks seemed like it would blend well with the programming. I added in the spitting acid attack as an after thought so if chosen that can be dropped if it is too much to program. The main feature is his ability to eat items and blocks, so if my creature is lucky enough to be chosen I would be most happy if his eating ability was kept in first and foremost. ^_^

    -Red- Big Damn Hero

As do we all, I'm sure  But all we can do is put our best into it and hope our creatures catch the developers' eyes. May the best creator win~

I was scared when you said it was just like it, but looking at yours I'm glad you ment just the color change :p I'm hoping that my creature's ability to eat is his main selling point.

Then you better hope I don't win. Otherwise you'll be seeing that face a lot more often >=3

    That face is terrifying.
I do like the whole idea of a living inventory. Perhaps you could let it digest things you don't need, which makes it stronger or restores it's health in the process.
Will it grow bigger if it eats a lot? I could imagine a godzilla-sized gobbler rampaging through my city, eating NPCs whole and munching on my weather station...

I considered the idea of it growing as it eats but I figured it would make him too imposing. I think I stand a better chance if he's a "common" enemy instead of something possibly boss tier. Plus it would just add another thing for the programmers to code which means more work for them. Then again... Why not? I'll add it as an optional feature and they can decide whether or not to implement it if they so choose :p

I also considered having it digest stuff you don't need, but the thought of having it regain health or get stronger from doing so never occurred to me, great idea! I hope you don't mind if I use that :p

That lil' guy would scare the poop outta me!
Great concept! There is always room for interesting mobs. Just imagine this guy procedurally generated!
