Race The Leeven - Pride&Prey

Based on Dragonith's sprite and my own thoughts, I made this one:

 

Love it, the only problem is is that lots of suggestions are just animals, maybe a slight addition would make the idea more original, I don't know, up to you.

 

I think that you may just be able to make it less animal, more alien.
Like the lion with spiky hair, and a non-lion tail.
That would just set it apart, I would imagine,

You got to be kidding me... space lions?

 

It's quite fleshed out in lines of story.
Personally, if the art wasn't so . . cartoony (?) . . people wouldn't mind it.

Truly, though, read it.

 

Space apes living in a dystopic future, acting like those in “Planet of the Apes”, suffering under a socialist/scientist regime with references to Orwell? Excellent!

Space birds in pre-columbian clothes, worshipping a blood-thirsty god and being lead by monotheistic fanatics, with references to modern atheism (Dawkins!) and religious radicalism? Astonishing!

Space fishes with feudal Asian culture, living in underwater cities and references to Sino-centrism? Wow!

But Space lions, acting as merchants, living in a Mediterranean environment in an anarcho-capitalistic society and having a “Codex” with references to Machiavelli?
HERESY! NO WAY!

 

Ok I get it!
Just saying a space lion sounds pretty weird.

 

I'm not so sure what "weird" means. Collecting all facts and reserches, I would say that "weird" would exactly describe this certain race of hairless apes, which evolved on the third planet in the Sol-system. On one hand, this species tends to have invented marvellous things considering art, culture and entertainment, but still, it struggles when it comes to some of the simplest things, like - well - predict the maturity of a melon, opening complicated packagings or... just keeping peace for a while.

The Leeven certainly had some bloody "wars" ("feuds" would be the more correct term) between different prides and republics, but fanatical ideologies, mass murder, genocide or weapons which could destroy their own home planet, are simply unthinkable for them. However, the humans are different and tend to do such irrationalities. I'm not sure who wrote the concept for this race, but I strongly suggest that the author should rethink it and have a second look at his concept, because it doesn't seem to be well thought out.

I love to see always Project´s like this.

The Best Part i think is the whole Story and Organisation of The Leeven , i mean why should we not have an Race that lives from their own Codex of Pride?!

I love this one of the Codex : #5 The world is bad. Trick others before they trick you.

I´d love to see more of this Masterpiece .

You can't imagine how much I appreciate your words, because I simply love the Desulti and hope that they find their way to Starbound, at least through a mod. As you may have noticed, I've even added communication between our races!

Thanks! Unfotunately, I don't have much time at the moment, but I still want to add some codex-entries; like a Note by Greenfinger, a Hiraki Corale story, and some others...

 

What a sophisticated idea. I have to think a bit about it. I imagine the lower tiers rather modest, but I didn't made plans yet when it comes to the higher tiers. It could be an idea for tier 9 or tier 10. The ultimative leeven armor may have something like this. However, I'm not even sure how it could be implemented with the limited possibilities of pixel art.

Even if I wasn't logged in for some time, I read the Desulti thread... but it seems, that we have still to wait for a mod with the Roos...?
