The infectar are a race of zombie like beasts, they infect mobs, or npc's such as a miner npc, they do the same things as the body they infected, such as a little animal, no matter what they infect though they will attack things that are not infected, the infectar cannot infect after getting a new body, the infectar infect with small viruses, they are actually HUGE compared to other viruses though, so you can see them, you can kill them before they infect something, as they cannot attack when in the virus state, only when having a body, they can infect ANYTHING from a bad moon to a spider, the player can research a cure for the infectar, or create them in the lab the player can send one to a planet, not yet infected by infectar, the single infectar will then multiply, causing a mass infection, the lab made infectar can be adapted to survive many conditions (such as cures or lava) but once they enter a planet, you can not wipe them out without an orbital strike, if you do cause a infection through lab made infectar, you may control the infection with certain adaptions (for example on ice planet add a adaption that makes them weak to heat) if you can find ways to make the perfect infectar, you can test it on a high level or low level planet, or in the lab make them friendly to you so you can command them as your army!
Oh boy. I finally get around to checking the NPC forum and this is the first thing that I see. I'm already all fired up to be angry. Let's clear that wall of text up, shall we? You want a massively contagious zombie plague that will make the whole planet hate you unless you kill the very first one to appear on the planet ever. You want to give this to the player so they can infect the entire population of any planet they want, including difficult end-game boss planets. You want to enslave them to the player's control so they can utterly trivialize the entire population of any planet, obsoleting all weapons (and all the work done on procedural weapon generation) and reducing mining to avoiding any environmental hazards there may be. And they can only be wiped out by orbital strikes, which will either fail to sterilize the underground or fail to leave a planet behind. May I ask why? EDIT: Oh, neat. I just noticed this thread was from early April. Any more rage and I'll be giving minicrits to a whole team.
the infectar are pretty much a biologic weapon...... use only when very, very pissed off at an enemy.....
wonder if hurricane realizes there are already a few zombie viruses planed in game as enemys and tools of enemys
